Not a Godzilla toy, but related as this is another daikaiju (giant monster), I will include the Chogokin Gamera here. This toy comes with quite the assortment of accessories, not to mention that the piece is very heavy and could probably be used as a weapon if you were so inclined. The engineering is superb, and the rendering of the character from the film "Gamera - Little Braves" is very well done.

Although not really incredible figures, I'd have to say Gigan is probably the best among the newer Godzilla Chogokin by virtue of its joints, accessories, and lack of fragility. GD-98 and GD-56 are nearly as perfect, but GD-45 and GD-57 really disappointed me, because of their plates and arm tubing. Having to assemble a figure when its parts are constantly at risk of falling off is not even remotely enjoyable and ruins what should have been the best of the group. Gigan's smallest parts are its neck braces and alternate heads!

The old Zincrons were awesome toys for their day; I remember pushing my nose against the glass cases at Japantown and coveting them, saving my allowance to purchase them, one at a time -- after starting with Godzilla, the next choices were agonizing (among the tons of other goodies offering by those shops in the 1970s). I ended up with Godzilla, King Ghidorah and Mechagodzilla. I've since owned and sold off the others (but never picked up the Angilas), but kept my original purchases, since they've been with me 30 years...

So just how limited is that Black Kiryu? It's the only Kaiju i'd really prefer a Chogokin toy over a Vinyl for. If I ever found one of those Gigan's cheap enough i'd buy one, but i'm not holding my break, although finding the vinyl toy hasn't been any easier.

The Gigans were the right price when I obtained them. I still hope to get my hands on a chrome plated Gigan. As for the Kiryu, I don't
mess with my toys too much other than to pose it differently and place it back on the shelf. I will agree that some of the parts are fiddley, and back plates have popped off at times, but the rest of the figure is solid and well engineered. The GD56 and GD98 are probably my favorite modern chogokin toys above any SOC or similar caliber toys. This is simply because the Showa MechaG, in both forms, is my favorite character from the Godzilla series.

I used to do the same thing at those shops. I was only able to get the Gojira back then, and I always wished that I had got the other ones. Finishing the set was one of the first goals upon re-starting this collection addiction I have.

Yes, the vintage Bullpets are mostly diecast with some plastic pieces in the obvious locations (head, arms on some, missiles).

Looks like you grabbed a minty Mechagodzilla there. Nice specimen.

Interesting, I have never heard of the missing horn Baragons. Any pics or reference data to share? Also the Gigan with differing chest blade is new to me. The Angilas with different back plates that I have seen has been so slight that I would think it's just product mixture on the day of casting. Pink is purple if you add the right amount of tint to the formula. No need for another listing there. Pink Godzilla is still disputed. My Silver/Brown is not pink in any way. The pink versions reported were pink spray on the body. Of course the head is partially pink because of the plastic it was cast from.

here is a picture of my baragons. i think the w/o horn version came later. they are much more rare than a horned figure. SUPER7 issue #3 also calls the light brown/silver godzilla "pink" let me know and i will scan the 3 pages for you. +++KLANG+++
