Your Wallet Nemesis of 2012 « Thread Started on Mar 12, 2012, 8:00pm »
There are just so many awesome releases in 2012 that I am having a hard time saying no to, which in turn is making a big dent in my wallet. What are some of your must get releases that are making your wallet complain? Each time a pre-order of a wanted product is announced my heart rejoices and then despair.
Stuff that I had or am having a hard time saying no to include the new SOC, the vehicle/lion voltrons, a bunch of transformers MP sized products (official and 3rd party), the epic devastator(s), Macross DX chogokin and the fast/armor packs, Yamato's valkyries (17S, 19S, 4, 1D, etc......).
oh the list is too long.........says the wallet. No way I can afford them all but they all need to somehow sometime make it to my collection. Is it me or have we gotten (or are getting) more awesome releases this year than previously?

Well, what I'm doing now is passing on stuff that I don't really care for too much but would have gotten anyway when the dollar was strong against the yen. So far I've skipped all 3 Tobikage SOCs, the Max Gokin Big-O, and the upcoming SOC Daioja. Almost passed on the Armor Plus Tekkaman SOL, but I had to draw the line somewher.
On the other hand, I've been saving for the Fewture Ryoma Mode Black Getters and Vehicle Voltrons I have on pre-order, so the money for those is already in the bank. Unfortunately, I also have a whole bunch of figures on pre-order at Amiami that are being released soon!!!

It doesn't help that I am going to Botcon and Comic Con this year so there are a lot of stuff that I have to pass on just so I can expense these trips. Vehicle Voltron I am gonna get but just not now. I'll order it when it gets closer to the release date.

That was the reason I opted not to go to Botcon even though I could have gotten both the hotel reservation and the registration. It would have cost almost 1k just to get the package, hotel, and flight. I opted to use that money on toys instead. Besides, if I had gone, I'd likely have spent money on toys that I wouldn't have gotten otherwise. It's a shame though cuz it would have been my first Botcon.
Did anybody get hit by credit card fraud after registering for Botcon? My credit card got hacked after ordering the exclusive TFCC stuff, which has in turn caused my Mattel lion force subscription to get canceled by Mattel because it coincided with the first lions shipping date.

Tight budget... so tight that I can't even afford to Pay attention to this topic!
Looks like I'll have to work more hours and set aside a few bucks here-n-there just for hobby-related goodies. And even then, I must prioritize between all the media aspects I'm involved with in this hobby (supplies for making customs; hardware upgrades for my 3D fan arts; yardsale dollars for miscellaneous action figure odds-n-ends; and then Actual robot toys. Not necessarily in that order).
In the long run, after I get over such obstacles I can look up at my new hauls and custom works, and just DrooOool.

SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!!!
ThreeA's Metal Gear Rex has already made a huge dent in my budget.
Fewture isn't far behind with their Black Getter and Juohmaru recolors. I've pre-paid a part of the Black Getter in 2011, so it will soften the blow a bit. As for Juohmaru, I had absolutely no interest in it when the first version was released, but the design grew on me over time. I probably wouldn't have paid the price eBay scalpers are asking for it, but a chance to pay retail price for a "recolor" that is nearly identical to the original except for sweet panel lines might be too good to pass.

Oh man.... I totally forgot about the juohmaru........ I really want that one too. I'm glad we can count on Fewture's track record of product delay. Has a preorder been out yet?

Nope. It's not even on Fewture's website yet. Plenty of time to find the money, but plenty of things to dilapidate it too.

Oh good. Hopefully there will be enough time.
Botcon is one of the bigger (if not biggest) transformers only convention hosted by Fun Publication under Hasbro. It's in Dallas this year. They have show exclusives every year. Ironically, if i understand it correctly, some third party products are also available for sale during this official conference. supergetterv will know better.

Fun publication stupid TFCC credit card leak, both of my credit cards were affected. I have this one card that I used last year that I guess they kept records or something and that one got hit along with the one that was recently used for the botcon registration.
@locidm, I can help you pick up any of the exclusive Transformers they have at this years Botcon in Dallas. Just let me know and I can keep you posted with whatever is available when I am at the show.

Ya I got hit too by the fun pub fiasco and in turn affected my Mattel voltron subscription, among other things.
It would be great if you would help me out at Botcon. There isn't anything I want at the moment, but may take you up on your offer if something does come up. Thanks!

quote me wrong, just found out today that starting at this year's Botcon, third party products will not be allowed in the dealers room. I guess that takes away most if not all of the things I may potentially want at the con....
Anyways, folks, continue your rant about your wallet nemesis.

Yeah, no 3rd party items, but it doesn't mean that they can't show pictures or show off the phototypes. Also, there are lots of ways around it. They can set up preorders for convention exclusive. They can if they want sell you the item on paper inside the show room and you just have to pick it up in another. For all intent and purposes, there is a room specifically for people to make trade or sell off their stuff, dealers can very well sell or set up pick up station inside those rooms. Simply put, the money the generate from these bigger vendor is what keeps the Convention going. In all honesty, the better Transformers convention is TFCon in Toronto. They have a 3rd party press conference and welcomes them. So with the fiasco of the credit fraud, TFCC should not piss off the vendor or else, this could be the last Botcon, I mean even the convention exclusives are pretty damn lame. Why not have Runabout and Runamuch, along with Stepper as part of the box set? Those are the G1 characters collectors want, not these dumb Shatterglass characters people care nothing about.
