HOLY CRAP!!! That was AWESOME! I hope it is a new series and not just a fan-based video. Combattler got a cool reboot, while Mazinger got the sh*ttiest of all - and was turned into a transforming giand fist...

it is not a new anime, a pachinko machine is kind of like a pinball game very popular in japan, there are ton of anime and game inspired ones including gundam, castlevania, etc available if it is true this was just a promo video for the upcoming one

Great gobs of gravy!!~
It's a shame it's not an actual show. Heck I wouldn't mind if they recycled the old show's plot and dialogue as long as they gave us something action scenes this cool and fast paced (unlike Shin *yawn* Mazinger)

I dont know why Combattler is less popular than Voltes V.I LOVE Combattler ,and the anime is much more interesting as well as his design,oh and he has one of the BEST theme songs, second only to Mazinger's..Dont get me wrong Voltes V is awesome, but I always liked Combattler better, and hope they do a "Shin Combattler"!!!

It's more because of the storyline I guess.. Mecha design wise, I like combattler V more than voltes V.. He does looked like a big bro to voltes and DAIMOS

Of course, the lead guy in red, the other guy in blue (probably a smarta$$), the girl in pink, the fat guy in yellow and the little boy with glasses... reminds me of another 80's robot show...

Well, in the Philippines Voltes was one of the first Super Robot shows that aired that focused on the characters not just the robot, and the combining robot concept was brand new then and the it felt "grounded" in the sense that at least the rest of the world was putting up some kind of defensive front and not sitting on their thumbs (like in Combattler, where was the army??).
I think The biggest reason why it was a hit here was that then President Ferdinand Marcos banned the airing of the final episodes of the show, due to the anti-dictatorship/revolution themes that took place in the series' end. Folks never knew how it ended (this is even mentioned in the SOC Voltes manual I believe).
Combattler on the other hand aired 20 years later here in the PH. So it didn't have quite the same impact. I tried watching the series, it wasn't half bad but I hated the comedy reliefs (the tots who piloted their silly looking mech). Also, the change in the villains lineup halfway through the show felt like "jumping the shark" to me.
Sidenote, I always wonder what would've happened if the producers pushed through with the original plan of having Voltes be a direct sequel to Combattler (a la Maz and Great Maz) before they changed it. I think the series would've been drastically different.
