I never got into Big O, maybe because his neck design is so weird. I don't mind the funky arms and giant hands, but his neck is unsightly. Or it might be the tiny head and weird neck. Giant robo has oversized parts, like his shoulders and skirt, but his overall look is still pleasing to me.

Before watching the show i had no interest in it. After watching the show i fell in love with it. It was a big and slow robot, it was kinda refreshing from all the ninja robots there are now in days.

I don't like giant super robots that can move like ninjas either, that is why I never really liked the new Mazinkaiser skl. I liked the big and slow all powerful beast the first Mazinkaiser was. I also liked the Big-O show, and if it wasn't for that strange neck Big-O would be one of my favorites. He was like a huge slow moving super powerful tank made to take punishment and dish it out. Reminded me of how Mazinger was in his show too.

Same for me. I did not like the design until I saw the show. Then I got the whole steam-punk kind of feel to it. KingboyD. Big O reminds you of Giant Robo because it was, in many ways, and homage to Giant Robo. If my memory serves correctly many of the artists worked on both. Ahh, that could explain it. It might also be the rivets and that both evoke a past age, be it the industrial revolution or ancient Egypt.

Sitting here in my office, looking at my Big O, and I I see is this giant powerful walking tank. His neck armour is similar to what is called a gorget on a real suit of armour.

You don't see that it looks like one of those african tribe people that wears the rings on their necks to strech it out? You fellas need an eye exam pronto! ;D Big-O is okay in my book, but it is weirdly shaped indeed... }D

Nope. I do not see that. I see the gorget from a suit of plate armour.

Look from the top of the shoulders to the bottom of the chin, and then compare it to other robots. Big O has an elongated neck.

I think you folks are misreading Big O's design. His neck stops at the top of the orange clear part on the chest, which is pretty normal and short, hiding behind the short neck collar he has. So I have a really hard time trying to see the long neck that you guys are talking about. However, if you say Big O has a very slanted shoulder, then I can agree on. Its just the shape of his torso design, which I find unique but never have a problem with. Honestly, its the first time I try to see Big O with a long neck. That idea never comes to my mine, even after this conversation.

I'm astounded that, in a discussion about Big-O in terms of proportions, that people are focusing on his neck and not on his GIANT ARMS AND LEGS and tiny forearms and thighs, haha.

To be honest, when I first saw the anime, I was like " Damn, what an ugly robot!". But after watching a few more episodes, he grew on me especially with all the gimmicks. I guess you could say he's an acquired taste.

TMZ. Yep. That is what I am telling you. I never once looked at Big O and went "wow, what a long neck you have". I instantly saw a uniquely designed mecha with a nod to medieval armour. He has a kind of steampunk feel. Heck, the game Warmachine seems to be heavily influenced from the look of Big O

Hahaha, and his enormous hands too! I don't mind those other disproportionate parts but the long neck, or piece of NECK ARMOR, that puts the head twice as far above the shoulders as a normal robot is what I dislike of it.

It looks like Big O's design was built around its weapons, whereas for most Super Robots it seems to be the other way around. (They design a kick-ass looking robot, then think of weapons that would fit that design). Not saying that's how it actually happened; just a feeling I got when I first saw it.
