It's actually a pretty cool design. I found pics of what looks like either prototypes or resin kits of a updated version. Attachments:

Gattai Robot Atlanger It was an Aoshima plastic model made in 1975. It looks like it was primarily inspired by the Mazinger series of super robots. Some background story: It was created by Atlanteans in 5500 BC using orichalcum. It is formed from four vehicles: Grand Tiger, Mighty Bird, Red Clipper and Target Carrier. Atlanger or its parts are launched from the Gattai Machine Tiger Shark which can separate into Mach Machine, Bird Machine, Tower Machine and Blade Machine. It has a "brother" robot from Aoshima: Gattai Kyokan Yamato which separates into Gattai Robot Musashi, Zero Sen Machine, Tiger Machine, Bridge Machine and Turbo Machine. Atlanger has recently appeared in a crossover manga with Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger, saving them from defeat by Yami no Teiou and his Mycenaean generals. Later, data and tech from Atlanger is used to upgrade the heavily damaged Mazinger Z into Mazinger AZ.

I'd like to see Bandai put one out, even in the smaller Chogokin line...

I had the old model kit years ago, but I'm sure I trashed it. But since there was no anime and most of the merchandise for this character were models it's not a very well known character although I think it showed up in a old video game with Mazinger and the Getter's.

Is this also one of Go Nagai's character? I kinda guess it's not.

That's interesting. Peculiar. But also interesting. And that updated design looks nice.
I wonder why it was never anime'ed? Were they afraid someone, like Me, might call it "At-plunger"... lol awwww... too much feathers on a robot can't be that bad. ;D

Judging by the joint linkage on the elbows and torso-to-thigh I think that prototype looks to be a future Revoltech item(?) zozo-mag It's actually a pretty cool design. I found pics of what looks like either prototypes or resin kits of a updated version.

Is this also one of Go Nagai's character? I kinda guess it's not. Naw it's basically Aoshima's rip-off of Mazinger with the combination gimmick of Jeeg/Getter's. But I don't think Dynamic really minded if there were cross over's. I'm not sure who actually owns the rights to Atlanger nowadays.

I think it showed up in a old video game with Mazinger and the Getter's. Atlanger never appeared with any Mazinger or Getter mecha in a game but it did appear in a PlayStation shmup, 70's Super Robot Anime Geppy-X. Geppy-X is a parody of Getter Robo. I'm not sure who actually owns the rights to Atlanger nowadays. Aoshima still owns Atlanger and makes plamo kits for it (the latest one, I think, was in 2008). They've given the license to Yujin / Takara Tomy ARTS (gachapon), Happinet (action figure) and Skynet (resin kit).

Wow, I like the metallic versions of him. From the looks of it, I think he might get the Revoltech treatment. I'm not sure, just guessing. Thanks for the pics! zozo-mag
