Just giving you a rough idea of what the total cost covers for that project, depending on where you go to have the shirts printed:
Labor
Screen setup (photo emulsion of the screen, from a film positive of the logo or artwork. Some companies will charge a one-time setup screen fee, and then later on if you're a repeat customer the fee will be reduced or discounted or waived as a freebie setup)
Tshirt (some companies charge for a minimum quantity of blank shirts, and then the cost per tshirt costs less as you order more. In most cases any given screenprint shop will not stock blank tshirts in-house and so they only order the exact amount of blank shirts per customer's order. The "Gildan" brand tshirts are your best bet. Fruit-Of-The-Loom sucks.)
Ink Some screenprint companies will include the first color ink with your order. Additional colors cost extra per color. Shop around to find good deals on whatever specials they're offering at the moment. In some weird cases, price per color may vary--- hopefully not in this case since this may be a one color print.
---------------------
So, that's just an idea of what you can expect if you haven't done this before; And so anyone else here may know if they've never done this before and are looking for tshirts of other print designs.
Say if someone just wants ONE shirt printed... that aint gonna fly, because a shop can't set up a screen and the dryer for just one shirt, Seriously speaking. lol Therefore shops charge for a Minimum order of a Dozen or more shirts.
(If someone wanted just one shirt, that would likely be the logo Heat-transfered with the same vinyl material used on football jerseys. That's expensive, about $30 or $40 bucks (give or take).
As for Turn-around time, it depends where you go. A local shop in your area will turn the order around in about fourteen days or less from the time your order was received. The reason for That is because a shop will wait a day or two to gather as many orders from customers so that they can go ahead and order the large amount of stock blank tshirts they need to fill up the work-week. (That's how my previous employer used to do things).
Quality: If the Union Ink brand screen-print inks are used on a Gildan 50/50 polyester or 100% cotton tshirts, the print will last you a damn good long time unless you're wearing the shirt while working on a car. lol The same applies to Sweatshirts and other apparel (although those types of clothes cost more to print).
Hope this helps, for everyone's need-to-know in case y'all wonder how this process works. lol
Thanks for the info Tony! It will be valuable. Jack is working out some local pricing and ideas, so I'll be sure to consider the Tshirt type as well as those details.
Ditto. Not too "busy". Easy on the eyes. No extra-fancy artwork needed, just the "Robot Japan" logo. And, it's quick to remember later on when someone gets home or to a computer anywhere and googles it online. Even non-believers must submit to the sound of the name.
