It was for me, there were some episodes where it felt repetitive but all in all it was decent and the action really ramped up near the end. All in all it had good action and was....bouncy ;)

Godannar is the anime that got me back into super robots big time! Before that I was watching mostly things like GITS SAC, Paranoia Agent, BoogiePop Phantom, ect. I still like that stuff but now I'm also a huge fan of totally over the top Super Robots....with fanservice! ;D

I was getting burned out on the heavier stuff a few years back. Now shows like Godannar and Gurren Lagann sort of balances things out for me.

Godannar was tolerable for me, but I would hesitate to really call it "great", myself. Fanservice was overkill, some of the character's "oniichan!" obsessions really grated on me, and I honestly just wanted to slap the two main characters and say "act like responsible adults, even if you aren't!".

I'll admit the anime that REALLY got me into super robots to begin with was Dai-Guard, which is funny because it's more of a "Real Super Robot" show ;).

This is all slightly OT, of course, but .. er... well, no I've got nothing.

GoDannar was definitely the Super-Robots revival title for me... it really brought the old-school feeling with all that mecha running around doing impossible moves (like martial arts, etc). The fan-service didn't hurt either (although I admittedly was a little bit embarrassed when my parents came by to visit and I had it on). I'm just stunned that it sounds moderately successful yet only spawned a couple of gashapon sets and that one die-cast by Max Factory. :)

Good choice. But I fail to see how one animes giant jiggly boobies incorparates into a story more than the other lol.

The fanservice get 'better' later on LOL.

Godannar to me is a great show in terms of animation quality and plot for a super robot show. Has a lot of kicks going on, and I think it fair a lot better than most of the super robot classic remakes. But at the same time, most people don't take the show very seriously due to the overdose of fanservice in pretty much every single episode. And if you get annoyed by this type of things, it really detract from the enjoyment. For some don't mind it, you get some good laughs. So it depends on the viewers' taste, and opinions can drasticly differ from 'great' to 'crap'.

Gurren Lagann doesn't even measure up to the amount of fanservice Godannar has, and can considered GL as pretty mild.

Dai-Guard was an awesome show!!! It is a shame that there were no figures made of the mecha... :-[

Gurren Lagann rocks! Great fighting scenes, a nice positive and motivational storyline, and loads of humor - all in one package... and of course... Yoko!!! ;D ;D ;D
