Just finished watching the entire Voltes V and Daimos series. Here are some thoughts that came after I watched it.
The art of the robot and people for both shows were still enjoyable. It stood the test of time for me..
the story of Voltes V .however was weak compared to Daimos. The part that irk me the most for Voltes V was the fact that everybody wanted to become a Martyr.. The Mom the Army Dad..The Professor.. Talk about Martydom syndrome.
What I found cool about Voltes that Voltes V could function as Voltes V even with only Volt1-3 (when Volt 4 and 5 separated). And Volt 5 frequently disconnected from Voltes. And Voltes actually caught a beastfighters sword using only its hands..
I was suprised that the infamous Laser sword actually broke.
On Daimos I was suprised that some of his deathblows were actually Deathslices and he actually did a death kick. Out of all of his weapons I thought that his chest daggers would be the sturdiest ..but it always breaks easily. And also I forgot Richard/Kelly/Ryuzaki actually used a nunchaku
I guess in a good way and in a bad way is that I found out that the two robots armor are not as strong as I thought it would be. There was an episode in Voltes that the enemy robot attacks actually went through their cockpits and almost hit the Voltes team.
And in Daimos their was an episode where Daimos arms and shell was being crushed.
As far as the enemies..I dont think it has much to do with watching Daimos second..but I remember more of Daimos enemies than Voltes.
Especially the first one eyed robots..Maybe its because Daimos enemy robots seem to have two in one combinations. The only enemy I fondly remembered in Voltes was the final Robot that Voltes faced that was piloted by none other than Prince Zardoz/Heinell. Daimos' final enemy robot was less memorable.
The worst part of the experience..no fault to the original was the very bad filipino dubbing...the bad voices and acting..for the record I'm filipino and I don't think I ever talked like that. ;D
All in all it is still worth having these two series..
Its not dissapointing like silverhawks.
Does anyone here know any other series worth collecting...that definitely has an ending sans spinoff.
Does grendizer have a true ending..
