I would say probably not... It comes with a fair number of accessories and has the multi-vehicle thing going on, but I wouldn't say it has any more gimmicks than other SOCs. Ideon with the light-up gun, multiple vehicle modes for its combining ships, mini attacker robots, tiny accessory ships, and detailed a base has a better variety of accessories. Gunbuster has a ton of accessories, AND an awesome base that functions as a perfect display addition, plus it's a great SOC in general, but at the same time has a slightly imperfect transformation... it's hard to pick one big SOC that clearly beats out any other. Voltes isn't a slouch in that department, but I wouldn't say it's the best, at least, not to me.

And SOC Dancouga is the only SOC that I can transform, combine, detach and re-combine without the fear of any paint chipping at all ;D ;D! This SOC is probably one of the best bang for the buck that I have.

Just checked the website and it seems GX-31V will be release in December after GX-44 for about 18,690 YEN.

A little bit off topic. For Indonesian Voltes fan (or fans that can get Indonesian TV broadcasts), Voltes V is being aired (for the first time!!) every Saturday and Sunday at 09:00 AM local at GlobalTV, in full Indonesian dubbing (thank God they didn't dub the opening and ending song, tho).
The glory!!

from reading most of the posts, you either love it or hate it. i hate it. i don,t see the logic in paying top dollar for a gimmik. tank mode was never in the series, so in dork logic, it never existed. you gotta hand it to bandai. they really know their market well. pretty much everything they throw out gets eaten up.

I think it's great that they release different variants and different ideas to appeal to a broad range of fans. Certain releases appeal to certain fans and some SOC releases haven't sold that well at all (Xabungle, Walker Gallia). For the most part though, Bandai does know their market pretty well for SOC and that's something that should be applauded because that means they're paying attention and doing a lot of things right. This release of Voltes is clearly meant to be an homage to the GoDaiKin toy, thus the throwback paintjob and the tank mode. Hopefully they took the opportunity while redesigning to improve some of the issues the original had. I'm happy this is coming out not because I buy every SOC toy (which I don't, not even close) but because I've avoided the original release of Voltes due to many unhappy reports on it. There are probably a lot of fans that will see this as their first opportunity to get a brand new SOC Voltes, and that's pretty cool.

I like it, I won't buy one but I like it although the treads on Voltes back stick out pretty far now.

I am not sure-- I think I will pass..but maybe not-- since I am a sucker for Voltes V-- maybe I just want one copy of this...maybe...although for now I am cash strapped due to other expenses (camera gear ;D )
