Thanks for the kind words guys. Xiombarg, haha, you're right! It does look like a dust buster vaccum now that you mention it. Regarding the missile, yeah, I was really surprised too at how puny it was (even Gx01R's belly missile was bigger!) But then again, it's not the size of the package but how he uses it ;D Magengar, yeah, it's a different kind of super robot show, definitely a far cry from Evangelion and the darker more brooding kind of Anime of today. ;D 70srfan, thanks, BTW, Orbitron posted up a link over in the break time section for the complete Daitarn series, unsubbed. That's where I initially got the videos. Hopefully the link still works. robotjapan.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=Breakboard&action=display&thread=14285There's a fansub version out there too but I think it's only halfway done through the show. Gold... Awesome just awesome, very detailed. I also cringed at the hip snap. VERY loud. I dont plan on ever transforming him again. He survived my video review so I dont plan on torturing him any more. There IS a way to avoid those 2 halves from rubbing. It takes some finessing of the dark grey shoulder arms that hold those shoulder pad things. I may post a short video of the movement required if I get time. Unfortunately I scuffed mine a bit before I learned how to do it. Good Idea on that tape to the treads too, I was putting pieces of paper towels which didnt look good at all. Thanks for taking time to take all those pictures, as a reviewer myself,I can understand the hours it takes to get a review done and I think I can appreciate it much more because of that. And finally, great pictures! I love the Daitarn SOC if you didnt already know. I even changed my avatar..I recreated the old avatar using the actual SOC

I noticed there was a way to get the halves to not scrape against each other but it involved having to put a lot stress on the shoulder pad struts (which might result in possible breakage?), so I didn't want to recommend it. BTW I love your avatar. Thanks Paulcpl. I just realized it's almost a month now since the Gx-53 got released, boy am I late. Hopefully I'll be in town when the Gx-54 hits next time so I can have the review up sooner Gold

Gold Happy to help. Hmm... you mean do a group shot of SOCs done in that scale using Photoshop? Interesting thought. I might try it one time (not now though, hehe I just finished packing everything back into storage). Another problem is the incomplete lineup for the shot, no Tryger G7, SRX, Grungust in gokin form yet. BTW, OT post but in case you're curious as how the original Great Mazinger and General Dark showdown went back in the original Great Mazinger cartoon. : smg.photobucket.com/albums/v463/Goldgaigar/Videos/?action=view¤t=GMaz_Gdark.flvThis happened around episode 30-something I think. It's been a while since I cut out the clip in preparation for a possible Shin Great Mazinger release, but I guess with Mazinkaiser SKL announced to be next , ol' Great Maz might never get his own OVA now. Hey, thanks Vendetta, I'm glad to be of service. Thanks Jondivision, hehehe but I think I'll pass, our country's got enough problems already without having a guy like me in charge. ;D Gold

Thanks Jondivision, hehehe but I think I'll pass, our country's got enough problems already without having a guy like me in charge. ;D Gold Gold, you're being too modest here . Thanks for the very detailed review of Daitarn. You've provided many useful tips in preventing potential paint chipping and damage to an expensive figure. That's what I'm really looking to find in toy reviews.

Thanks again for the link Gold ;D Wish the local anime shops can burn Great Mazinger, Daitarn 3 into DVD soon. Yeah, it would be interesting to see a photoshop of SOC and other robots according to their "official size" BTW, when it comes to Super Robot collecting, I always look for your reviews before deciding to purchase it - Bandai et al should hire you as you help their sales! More power and cheers! 70's Super Robot fan

Thanks Niko. Thanks 70srfan. I suddenly remembered why I never tried doing a Photoshop group pic, there was a site that already did it, I can't find the link anymore (I think it was Mechanical Rage.it ? but they've changed the site's layout so it's no longer the front page image), too bad, they did a great job too. Hehe, all this talk about crazy scales and sizes gave me an idea to start a thread listing the various sizes and weights of Super and Real Robots for reference's sake. The thread is here: robotjapan.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=16699Gold

Awesome review, Gold, as usual. Useful as ever and waaay more realistic than the overenthusiastic banter that you get in most reviews of gx-53. Objectivity is the word, here, and I, for one, appreciate it greatly. The pic you're talking about is indeed the one from mechanicalrage, but the site is undergoing reconstruction, and not all pages can be accessed right now... But they're implementing an english translation, so I guess that's good news for you... I'll post it here for everyone's convenience: obviously, it needs updating, but here it is... And, here's the link to the wayback archive copy of the article: web.archive.org/web/20060509040705/http://www.mechanicalrage.it/foto/articles/altezze+robots/01.htm

Thank you, thesilent. Hey! That's exactly the image I was referring to! Thanks a lot for reposting it. I have to agree with Chen though, as much as I love things to be accurate to the source material, there has to be a sense of "believability" as to how big things can get, Danguard is too big compared to how he appeared in the show. Even Getters, Mazingers and Grendizer seemed to close to each other's size in their respective team-up Anime. Which makes me wonder if the studios ever even did the math or they just shoot a random number up there for the hell of it. Sadly, it is what it is. Gold

Hi all, I have to agree with Chen too. Look at how small Boss Borot is - only up to the knee of Great Mazinger In the anime Boss was closer in height to Maz, GMZ and Grendizer. Cheers, 70's Super Robot fan

I can't believe my eyes... are those SOCs REALLY That big or small when you stand them beside one-another in a group? I really can't believe what I'm seeing in that pic.
