I've been wondering, what's going on with Machine Robo? Are they still producing Mugenbine? I was so glad when SOC Baikanfu came out, but there hasn't been much going on with MR since.
I would love if Bandai did a SOC set with Blue Jet, Rod Drill, and Triple Jim in the same scale as SOC Rom and Leina, to complete the Revenge of Cronos leading cast.

It's still going from what I've seen. They did that Egyptian guy (which I love) a few months ago, and then they just released another combiner guy about a month or so ago. It seems like I also saw pics from one of the recent shows that had a new Mugenbine character in the background. Sorry Rex that I don't know names and such..

That looks pretty cool Vince. I'm still not really into Mugenbine though. I don't have any of them, so I don't know if I'm really missing out on anything or not. Maybe I'm just so attached to the original series of toys, with the diecast and all. At least MRR paid more tribute to that aspect of the original ones than Mugenbine does. Also, the Mugenbine designs seem too ambiguous and generic, and less finely crafted in general.
What do you guys think of Mugenbine? Have y'all experienced them first hand?

I would love to see an all new MR series of the classics in the same 3 3/4" scale with die cast metal with added articulation and updated sculpts. I'd buy them all and I think they could easily do this for about $15-$20 a figure.

theres a few sites out there dedicated into the "gattai" of these robots. It's just too bad they're so pricey. I can't imagine how many they used in those large combos.

Holy mackerel, those are insane! I definitely appreciate the builds. I guess I just wish Bandai would continue with a standard line of Machine Robo toys more in the spirit of the 600 Series ones. The Mugenbine creations here are indeed awesome, but the modular aspect is more akin to a Lego type system than a robot toy to me. I suppose if I could have my way, Bandai would maybe continue Mugenbine as it's own separate line, and re-introduce new MR transformable diecast toys as a flagship series. With updated engineering, of course, as Primetoystore suggested.

Bandai definitely seems to be focusing on the candy toy line of Mugenbine in particular. There seem to have been fewer and fewer releases of the other toys as of late. I really have taken a liking to the candy toys. The combined robot forms look really good whereas the individual Mugenbine robots always were a bit off. This guy has reviews of almost all of the sets, save for the repaints: indb6.zero-yen.com/mugen.htmlThe first 2 sets (Shiseijuu (?) vs. Death Emperor) came out a while back- maybe 2006? Pretty hard to find now- I saw one of the sets sell for over $100 on YJA. Next was Mugenryuuou, which was a combination of 4 dragons and the central robot. The following 2 sets were repaints of the first three with swapped parts. So-so. After the repaints, Bandai seemed to re-think the line. All following sets were based on a cultural or historic theme. Also, these sets lack the normal Mugenroid central robot. Goshinjuu featured an Egyptian motif, and all 5 pieces combined to create Mugen Pharaoh. Kenseiryuu had a medieval knight theme. All 5 pieces combine to form Mugen Arthur. Most recently, Bandai released the Kaiseijyuu set, which has a pirate theme. The combined form is Mugenpirates. I've seen solicitations for a dual-set to be released in January/February 2009. The first set is called Toshinjuu, combined form of Mugen Ashura. The second set combines into a large dragon, and all 12 pieces can be combined into one massive robot. The high points are that the sets have really solid robot combinations, and a lower price point than the normal Mugenbines. I also find the Lego-ish build aspect entertaining. The candy toys are interchangeable with the regular line toys: www.geocities.jp/hetare_d_max/gallery-MB_MEvsDE.htmlThe downside is that they are somewhat lower in quality (cheaper plastic and decals) than the regular Mugenbines. They are still quite good for candy toys, however. Anyway, just my thoughts. While they're a far cry from the original MRs, the candy toys are collectible, affordable and really fun.
