hello all..newbie here, so be kind question: any info on : KING DAM series..especially the die-cast 3 ship combining robot from the late 70's..mainly blue and red in color;with other wild coloration...the orange wings have stickers that say 'king dam'. remember chewing on this toy as a toddler and was lucky enough 2 score one recently. ..i think it must be a diaclone because of the 2 tiny diaclone guys with it.. ....but i know very little of it's origins..tatsunoko??bandai-k.o??? ANY info is deeply appreciated!!! ;D

The original was called Dia-Battles. It was made by Takara under the Diaclone toy line. There are some great commercials on Youtube of the Diaclone line. Here's a link for this particular toy:
There were a lot of bootlegs of this particular toy. I think I've seen over a handful, and I can dig out pics. King Dam was one of the KOs, but it seems pretty close to the original, with a lot of diecast. I love this toy, and it was my first forage into the Diaclone line. I think the vehicle forms are even cooler than the combined robot, and that's not something you see too often.

the king dam one is actually pretty easy to find. i end up getting them all the time from buying bulk lots of items and ending up with one in the pile. they seem to pop up frequently but are usually incomplete. i don't think i've ever had that was complete.

I've never had one with both fists....Which seem to be way too big for the toy, making his arms reach almost to his knees. But, regardless, he's still a cool little pre-TF,

Its funny - I kinda agree. I think this looks a lot better without the fists! The arms are just too long on this figure. That's why I said that the vehicle forms look better. I think it'd be fun to show all the various permutations / KOs of this toy. I'll start it off with a few I've found so far. As I dig through my photos, I'll post more. Let's see what everyone else has found in their searches. Here's the Gobatron KO: Here's one called Variables: And this is one crazy variation. What do you get when you mix Diabattles with Taekwon V? This awesome toy:

Yup, you used to get one of these in every lot of G1 Transformers or Gobots you bought on ebay... sadly mine is crazy loose and falls over. It's a neat and solid design... I should tighten up the joints on mine and display it.

Sweetness! I had the "Kind Dam" variant as well when I was little. I had two left fists in mine! And I also thought it was strange that his hands went down to his knees! In, fact, I thought it was particularly strange that although each of the vehicles had cockpits for the little Diaclone people, you couldn't actually put the people into them and close the canopies anyway... so, my young mind asked, what was the point? Yet for some reason, just by virtue of it being a combining robot, I still loved to play with him...
