I agree. However, it lacks accessories compared to the regular GX-01R. Also, the "blue" used for the extremities is way too light.

Well, I felt more compelled towards the GX01R since the size of the robot was corrected and the paint scheme improved. I agree, the blue on the one shown first in this thread looks light.
It would be difficult for me to judge which Maz SOC is the best. I'd have to have all the Maz SOCs in my hands and experience them all before I can call any one of them my favorite. For now, I'm really enjoying my GX01R now that I learned it can also hold some of Great Mazinger's swords in its fist. I still wanna get the GX02 soon.

I agree that only the people who have had the chance to have them in their hands, or at the very least see them in person and up-close, should provide their unbiased opinion. Otherwise, it would be kind of a mute point.
The perfect SOC Mazinger Z would be a GX-01R+, with the forearms, lower legs, and all the accessories of the GX-01R, and the Jet Pilder of the GX-01 (which was actually included as part of the GX-02 Great Mazinger).
The GX-45 and GX-49 Shin Mazingers are cool, but I would still go for the "combo Mazinger Z" as described above.

I still think the GX-07 is my favorite. Manga-flavored with great feel to it.

The perfect SOC Mazinger Z would be a GX-01R+, colored in the forearms and lower legs like GX-01R.
If I'd have to pick one of those on the market, GX-01R+ would be my choice. For me it's the closest to the classic anime and a very nice rendition.
GX-45 is very nice, but I don't like the smaller size and the elbow joint. The hip joint also could have been better; the balls are too much visible. Take for example the GX-20 Getter Poseidon hip joint: very nice and a good range of movement WITHOUT the "extension" mechanism that we find in the last SOCs since Tetsujin.
That hip joint whit just a little extension would be perfect.

Still like GX-01R, I like the chrome on it plus I like the head design best, it doesn't have that squinty eye look.

I only have the GX-01R. I think you guys should send me the rest of them so I can decide for myself. [edit] I have to add that that new version that turns into a fist is pretty darn cool looking!

i got GX-01R and GX-07, i like them both for reasons that the GX-01R is base from the cartoon show that i used to watch when i was a kid and GX-07 is the original Mazinger Z from the mangas, both figures for me has a personal value.
as for theGX-01R+, it looks good from the pic but the blue color is way to light for my taste than what Mazinger Z has been in the old shows that looks much more darker than that. But like the head sculpt and the pilder ( is better than the one the GX-01R brings, its way to big. heck i use a hover pilder from a broken Mazinger Z model kit figure that i got and it looks way better) plus the old classic design of the Jet Scrander goes well with it.
The GX-45 Mazinger Z, i cant really say since i don't have it but from pics that i saw and comparison, the figure is really nice. more articulation for poses than the other GX-01R and 01R+, plus the rendition from the anime to the figure is really on the mark( heck i love it only brings on hover pilder that is articulated as well) but the downside of the figure is his size, even with the extensions that the figure brings that you could increase his size some more inches, is still its flaw because it makes it look weird. but in comparison with Great Mazinger he is perfect for it for been a bit smaller.

GX-45 beats them all.
I know most of You will disagree with me but, even though GX-01r+ has the best ever face to resemble the original anime, I do not like the head pannels as they lack crispness in the line cuts, they look soft. Also the pilder for this figure is the same as for the GX-01, and that is a non sense, because it should be the pilder from the GX-01R as this is very detailed and anime accurate, another point against the GX-01R+ in my opinion is the color, that as mentioned by many is no good in that light tone. I mean GX-01r+ is a very cool Mazinger, and a Mazinger after all, and if I could grab one I would (though paying the $500 plus it is in the net now a days makes it very out of my budget).
Now on the size of the GX-45, at first sight i also thought that it was too small, but the fact is that, it is the ONLY MAZINGER Z IN PERFECT SCALE TO GX-02 and AOSHIMA MAZINKAISER, if you put the pilders together they look so in scale. Also Mazinger is supposed to be 18 mts, wile Great Mazinger is around 23 and mazinkaiser around 29, so it makes no sense the other chogokin mazingers to be that big in comparison to GM an the kaiser.
what i like so much in GX-45?
1-poseability 2-hard pvc head instead of soft. 3-superb sculpt and paint job 4-very hefty and well constructed. 5-better scale for GX-02 and aoshima MK
do not get me wrong, GX-01R and GX-01R+ are the best original anime mazinger figure resemblance figures, but the best Mazinger of them all for me is the GX-45.

It is OK to have different impression on different version. No one is 100% right and we have the freedom to express our feeling. It's just the verbalization of your opinion. Don't hesitate to say it out, LOUD!!! ;D

I also think you won't confuse the two by the BIG price difference.

nothing..just the color scheme, head sculpt and being limited tamashi nation edition ...and just so you know the high price is because of the second hand market (rarety) meaning the high price is not retailed bandai
