Hmm ... the lack of die cast and no waist joint and possibly fragile too.
This has me qustioning if I should even get this. I like the gx 45 b/c it has what i want for Mazinger it has metal and its poseable . I 'm really on the fence here....
edit: maybe i'll just get the model kit

i prefer the die cast in terms of weight.....and durability also.....my kid loves playing with my toys....plastics tend to break easily..... You mean SOC plastic? Because yeah, Bandai sometimes uses cheap thin plastic for its SOC figures. Cheaper plastic figures like Transformers rarely break no matter how hard you play with them. At best some parts will pop off.

Is it possible possible to transform GX-45 with God Scrander into something that looks like a decent fist mode?

I already had GX-45 and wanted the wings. Unfortunately, the kit's wings don't fit on the SOC, but at least I can display them together...and they look great ;D

in fact this one was released before the diecast, i have this one too, and it IS more poseable than the diecast version, however, is far inferior and very fragile, after all is a model kit.

There is a discount price on Gx-49 on Plamoya : plamoya.com/en/soul-of-chogokin-gx49-shin-mazinger-z-completed-bandai-shin-mazi-p-11576.htmlDiscount price US$ 103.30 28% off make it turn to US$ 74.38 ! I also got news from my friend working in the french Bandaï division, Socs will be sold online threw the french Bandaï website and in the main major shops... It's the end of an old era : import shops with crazy prices for those who do not shop online... And it will be the same price as bandaï in Japan.-> it will be over with the shipping costs... directly on store ! It's a good news for Europeen collectors, specialy in Italy...

Man... I opened mine last night just to make sure it was complete and nothing was broken. What an incredible let down it was to hold this Shin Mazinger figure in my hand! It feels way cheap for an SOC... hell it even feels cheap for a bootleg! In my case I only purchased it to keep it transformed in the Big Bang Punch (I am a glutton for punishment since I really hate the Big Bang Punch). I pity the people that passed on the GX-45 and just decided to get the GX-49, because they are missing out BIG TIME!!!

From what I understand, the crystal isn't out yet for a couple of weeks?
Bandai HK distributor become delayed when it comes to releasing the crystals, meaning some shops will sell the SOC first and then ask you to come back and pick up the crystal at a later date(sometimes even months late), sort of an "i owe you" deal.
