How much do you guys think this will cost? I'd guess somewhere in the same price range (maybe a tad higher) as Gakeen, their last magnetic toy release, so in the $200's. Hi Orbitron. No, I don't think Bandai would see the market in making an SOC version. If it's any consolation, CM's diecast robots are just as good as (and in some cases, better than) SOC's. From what I've heard and read, the CM's Gakeen is largely regarded by those who got it on RJ as being better designed than Bandai's SOC Shin Jeeg. |

The CM's Gakeen is my favorite CM gokin collection. Just overall well made and sturdy with strong magnets (but can't say the same on the small bots due to their size). So I can see Baratak can be just as solid, with some improvements even, if CM's doesn't mess up.

The initial price'll probably be the same as Gakeen----MSRP of $250 before shipping.
Although I just got a MISB Gakeen for $155 shipped last month.
That's not unusual, either. CM's releases have consistently been price-slashed almost in half for a couple of years now. There are stores that stubbornly maintain the retail price, but the discounts are not hard to find on the web.
The QC & engineering of Gakeen matches any SOC I've ever purchased. I do think magnets are a bad idea for stability reasons but that's a concession they made for the nostalgic toy collectors & anime accurate crowd, just like Bandai did with the SOC GX-42 Jeeg.
So a few months after it's release Baratak will be less than $200 shipped.

I hope this is more like the Gakeen quality instead of the Mekanda one (non-diecast). I am so disappointed in that release.
