These are very rare pieces in the hands of one of the most know evil-bay pirates.
Just take a look at the other items this seller have listed on ebay.

That first one, T28 ""DVD"" edition? I don't think Bandai would remotely even call it THAT. Does it really exist as That funky title?
The seller looks shady. I'll imagine he isn't even a Collector, but just POSER using this hobby and this genre as a means to make luxurious amounts of money by auctioning common (and rare) items at outrageous prices.

mecha-mecha... Oh yeah, I saw that posting as well. Would anyone even consider paying that amount for a Mazinger?

Actually, the proper name for the Tetsujin DVD Edition is "Special Color Version" according to the 2nd volume of the SOC encyclopedia. But it's more commonly known as the DVD Edition since you have to purchase the DVD set, send in the mail-in coupon (with 7800 Yen back in the day) and receive the toy.
The selling price is crazy though, I got mine in Hong Kong 2 years ago for $600 USD. It's somewhat limited but not super rare (like the 100pieces Go Nagai autographed GX-45C Mazinger). I'm not sure if the Tetsujin is a lucky draw or a it's guaranteed item so long as you mail in the coupon back then. Since the SOC encyclopedia doesn't have a number listing for how many produced (unlike the GX01RB which was limited to 1000 pieces, lucky draw).

Ya know, when I first noticed this topic, the Boss Borot SOC was the first thing on my mind. Many folks have talked in the past year about how pricey he's become. I wonder if that's because of his cult status as a comedy-relief robot characer in anime history. It seems like everyone in this hobby wants a Boss Borot SOC, but just a handful of people actually do have it. ;D

What's the most you guys have ever paid for an SOC. Me, my GX-04 and the GX-04X: $400. Followed by GX-46 Daizengar and Assenseiter: $300 and then my BPX01: $200+ (I think I paid about the same for my GX-34 Gunbuster and GX-13 Dancouga).

If you look at this guys sales he only averages three to four sales a month and most of the time it's inexpensive odds and ends. I don't know what his selling philosophy is, but the thing that ticks me off about sellers like this is that his listings promote artificially inflated prices.

The most I've ever paid for my SOCs: item (cost)GX-01R (one of two Yujin Perfect Version Mazinkaisers) and GX-02R ($80 SIB) and Happy Happy Joy Joy (Priceless) ;D zozo-Magengar What's the most you guys have ever paid for an SOC. By artificially inflated prices you mean he starts his auctions with a high minimum bid? In some cases I've seen this, PLUS, the item listed in the same auction under BUY IT NOW..... ...so... whether you chose to Haggle for it (Auction purchase), or pay for it via Buy-It-Now, you'll still end up paying a gastronomical price for the item. zozo-Magengar If you look at this guys sales he only averages three to four sales a month and most of the time it's inexpensive odds and ends. Some sellers on eBay also adjust the shipping price according to the price of the item. Like some Fewture Getter, it seems the higher is selling price is, the heavier it get, because it cost more to ship.

They adjust the shipping to compensate for the lower offer price and to avoid ebay fees.

Most Expensive ebay Seller. Some of the stuff you can still buy for half of the price anywhere. or maybe even less. CRAZY.

lejam... Are you refering to the Tetsujin Tamashi Nation 2009 one? You possibly paid $600 for it? I just got one! I absolutely love it!!! I have this one too... love it. But I am talking about the dark grey one, matching the old black and white Japanese cartoon. About expensive shops, you have no idea how much Mandarake buy toys from sellers... You can divide all prices by 4, even 5 or 6. But you can find very great second hand limited or rare toys... And japanese second hand means "brand new" Yesterday, I just picked up a 2004 Expo GX-01RG Mazinger gold for 15750 Yen. Only the box got a little tiny scratch... easy but too much for a toy...

a quick FYI: I paid almost 1/4 of the price for this five years ago on Y!J - and I definitely overpaid. That guy's store is ridiculous for two reasons. First, because the prices are double/triple what actual going rate it, and he never sells anything. Second, because it gives others a false sense that any SOC is worth lots of money, driving up costs for the real fans.
