It has less to do about being a 'Gaijin" and more about licensing a distribution rights, it's all about $$$$. If GSC can set up their own distribution network outside of Japan then they can sell to those stores and make more money. Another fact with some companies is just licensing, it's just not worth getting the rights to sell in North America if their only gonna sell a few thousand units. It's the reason we will NEVER get a SRW game that has all the classic SR and new SR in it, it would be licensing nightmare and just not worth it.

Looks like they want to go down the same route that Bandai France took in Europe. They have they licensing rights and forced other online stores importing Bandai Japan/Asia products to cease and desist. First they let smaller dealers built up a market without any risk to their company, and when it was ripe for the taking they took it.
I don't know if that's going to work for GSC as well, seeing that it is not as big a company as Banda,i but the plan looks similar.

Hobby Search also has it for a 16% discount and so far I haven't heard they're having trouble with the supplier, so there's another avenue there. I've never ordered from them though. Btw, glad to see another board member from San Diego!

Well, if nothing else this sure has us talking about it, which at least in one respect works to their advantage.

This isn't exactly the right place for this, but I think this is the best way to get this news to those who might be interested, so... It looks like Max Factory brought our old (and historically incredibly hard to find solid info on...I still don't know if these ever actually made it to release before, even though the matching Big O supposedly did years ago) soft vinyl friends to WonderFest... AmiAmi says May for Duo and June for Fau. Here's hoping, I'm more interested in these (Fau especially) than the Max Gokin at this point (Final Stage...where are youuuuuu?). Breath holding not recommended, but finger crossing may be in order. www.blog.amiami.com/amiblo/2011/02/2011gsc.html

Duo & Fau are same size with Max Gokin Big O!!?? Now I am interested!! Same here, too bad Fau and Duo are made of soft vinyl (Kinda like those 5-6" plastic Ultraman monster figures). If they were made with harder plastic (doesn't even have to be gokin, given how much Big O costs), I'd seriously consider gettting them. Hmm Wonder if Bandai will make SOCs of these two? Gold

They are listening to fans, just happens to be Japanese fans and the Big-O just wasn't as popular there as it was here. Plus the fact that "villain" mechs sell poorly is another mark against them.
I STILL think that Bandai should put out a all plastic line of figures that compliments the SOC line with characters that may not be SOC worthy but could still be designed with the SOC look and be displayed next to them. That would give them a outlet to make enemy mechs and less popular super robots but still give the fans they want.

Well they're not SOC status, but SRC and Robot Damashii mesh pretty well together? Also I think if Bandai does a SRC Big O, Fau and Duo will probably follow suit.

Bandai did this with the SOC Xabungle and Walker Gallia - they included a cool kit of a lesser mecha. CM's did the vinyl enemy figure with the Patlabors as well. I would love to get my hands on the Big Duo and Big Fau, even when I'm probably not going to get the Max Factory Big-O (until it drops in price). }D

Yeah I have those and really those were just more like a bonus item. I mean if they had a separate line of all plastic toys and called it the "Soul of Villainy" or whatever they would have a wealth of characters to choose from. From Mazinger alone there's probably over 60 villains they can choose not including Getter Robo and Grendizer.

The fact that everyone has this listed at between $425-$500USD makes me think that Max Factory is producing a very limited amount of these Big-Os. Dang! On the fence, but I do not want to see "SOLD OUT" everywhere. But that price....I can get an extra Fewture Shin Getter 1 for that money. And that will be a lot heftier with metal. What to do?

WOOOH!!! I got the best deal on Biggie-O! US$34.11 ! ;D Yeaaah... no. There's a problem with HLJ's currency converter, that's all. US funds don't convert right. Just look at the price in Yen and Euros.

Also it looks GSC has gone back on their threatening online companies about not dealing with them if they sell outside of Japan. I guess they realized that they need them more than they need their products.
