Imho, as a collector, now it's very interesting to get (money) both versions including original G1
to have a display showing how a character can have different rendering and engineering...
The fact is MT version is very G1 accurate for fans and final price will be lower than TFC (around 200$ vs 600$).
Now everybody hope for a price drop from TFC...
but considering the size and number of piece for each toy (x6), it will be hard...
Not so many solutions remains :
TFC lower the price and/or retailers lower their margin (don't think so).
It's really hard news for TFC... Maybe they shoulded produced a smaller Hercules.
C'mon' everybody dreamed a Masterpiece Devastator !
Maybe they shoulded design it more G1ish ?!
pffff... Everybody was astonished and excited (except the price) when TFC announced this release
and IDW comics design/style was very appreciate (and still)...
My little experience in toy production : 2 years ago, I work on paint app design for a brand new brand (designer toys).
They start with 1 unique mold with 4 design : 3 designers versions + 1 DIY version
The schedule was : first, they release the 4 versions in 8 inches / 20 cm,
then, they schedule to produce the 3,5 inches version in 10 differents designs...
But... because the first release was too much expensive and toys too big, the company as no choice to shut down...
People prefer to buy little toys with affordable prices... (economic crisis...).
So... I think it's very dangerous now for TFC to not make a move towards consumers :
most off them can not spend too much money in Transformers toys.
US market is headed by Hasbro versions with lower prices (and cheap quality, imho)...
I don't know if TFC aim the US market and what quantities they want to produce...
For sure they put a lot in this project... (I give them my entire support).
BTW, now it's a rush for both 3PT companies to release pictures of all bots... hard times !
