Drill Team: Two generations of Getters... I gave in and picked up the Jumbo Getter Go a bit ago, and although there is no articulation of the arms at the shoulders, I think he holds up just fine to his older brethren.
Eyeone, your collection of Jumbo's is simply amazing. If you don't mind me asking, where & how long ago did you pick up the Danguard Ace and Combattra? I'm assuming Yahoo Japan because those just don't show up on E-Bay. Again, super impressive, among the nicest out there. Congrats!
A while ago I passed down a Kamen Rider v3 to my nephew (after much coaxing) but it was missing a fist and antennas. He decided to take Kamen Rider on a journey to find a replacement, and lo and behold, with the addition of an XX-2 arm attachment, Kamen Rider v3 became 'Mr. Light Professor'... He also stuck two zip ties where the antennas would go, and voila, Mr. Light Professor became a Jumbo radio tower!
Looking at your collection makes me drool so much I need a sponge. I point out the ones I really want and my wife just shakes her head and calls me a dork (and I am not allowed to make fun or her trashy reality TV addiction)
I know right? His collection is amazing but you have some really great ones too. What I love is that he actually seems to play with them. I never cared about a Bow Fist for Raydeen until I saw how great it looked. Same goes for the shoulder pad versions or Raydeen.
That's what's great about this forum; viewing other's collections is not only fun, but inspiring. I've learned so much in a short amount of time by reading posts and viewing pics in this forum. On the flip side, inspiration comes with a pretty hefty price. I have to control my urges or I'd be in financial jeopardy real quick!
First of all, thanks for the props and for checking out my collection. I do indeed enjoy playing with them, especially with my nephew. Just yesterday he and the Jumbos were cleaning up 'oil spills' around the world's oceans (in reality, paint stains on my studio floor) to save the piranhas from extinction. I just repaired a Super 8 camera and we're planning on making a Jumbo movie. So for me, it has always been about having fun with these guys. Maybe it's because I started young. My parents got me a Mexican Kamen Rider X (aka Aquaman) when I was 3 or 4, and I've been hooked since. While I appreciate -and drool over- the minty fresh Jumbos and the awesome art and design on the boxes they came in, the playability of these toys is their main appeal for me (and my nephew )
That said, I super admire the museum-level collections I've seen on here from fellow boardies like Mike Deco, Kitsir, Chairman Sjoen, NekroDave, Matt Alt, DiceOne, Cholo Carwash, and many others. Long before I joined any of the forums, I lurked from afar, reading their accounts (and lifting their images) on Jumboland, CollectionDX, Robot Japan, etc. This definitely fueled the Jumbo addiction. Seeing the fine work boardies like Bourno, WillOhio, WTFunks, and others were doing and continue to produce made me want to get involved. And the on-going conversations with you guys and other board members make it fun to stick around.
