Actually I have the same PVC stink problem with my Volks SRX-00. The thing is beautiful... but it STINKS! And in a scary way because the whole thing is basically a giant chunk of PVC.
Had it ventilated a few months but nothing. It’s been locked in the display case for almost two years and it still smells. Now it isn’t as bad as before (had to redirect my nose elsewhere every time I opened the glass doors because of how toxic it smelled in there). I have a little can of baking soda next to it to absorb the smell… but I never noticed it having much effect. Think that the reduction in the stink right now is because of time.
Read that a wash of vinegar might work but was always to scared it might do something to the paint.

I wonder if these types of odors in, eh-hm, "toys" attributes to the recalls and bans on imported, eh-hm, "toys" here in the U.S.
(I really REALLY do Not wanna refer to our specimens as "toys". lol)
Ya know, in the past few years there has been sudden public out-cry over lead in toys.

My Daizyujin arrived today. It's my first SRC. Wonderful little piece. But I notice the hands are made with strong-smelling pvc like the hands and cape of the GX-52 Getter 1. Do all the SRCs use that same smelly plastic for the hands? I'm really looking forward to the Gunbuster SRC, but if it uses more of that odoriferous pvc, I might just stay away. That stuff annoys me. I never noticed that to be honest. The only thing I noticed, and I think Gold pointed it out, was the effects parts sometimes stink a bit. Still, I just went and smelled mine. Not noticing anything. Huh. I wonder if mine just came from a bad batch. I'd order a second one at some point if I could be reasonably sure the pvc bits wouldn't stink. Aside from the toxic odor, it's a great little robot.

Sticky is a problem Ive encountered especially with the armored Dynamite Action Mazinger/Great Mazinger which are PVC I believe. And also stickieness Ive seen several times on new SOCs hands or fists. It goes away after having air exposure, but I bet if they were in a sealed case it would reoccur.

Well there's a couple different things going on, sometimes when you get the greasy stuff on toys its usually a mold release type of "grease" which is meant to help separate parts from the mold and sometimes isn't cleaned off properly. When you get a smell then that means its a chemical reaction to either air or light and usually goes away once the toy has "aged" but that's not always the case. Same thing when white toys yellow its less about light and the fact that the chemical reaction to air over time makes it yellow and brittle.

Yes, i do noticed the "grease" on new toys as well, a good sign for misb toys. They tend to dry up when exposed to air tho.
My greatest fear is toys turning brittle. But guess there's little we could do about that.

Sorry to resurrect dead thread but can someone help with this Any idea what I can do to add something to increase height between torso and hip so there is more clearance for side to side twist turn motion Also yeah I guess I turned torso too much and belt piece came flying off, idk if it broke or it was glued, anyone know what would be the best method to attach it back on or the best adhesive for the kind of plastic which SRCs use?

Use a few small dabs of gel superglue to reattach the belt piece. Don't use the runny liquid superglue, (it would get too messy) and keep the glue away from the skirt joints.
As for giving the torso more length to give the skirt more room, you'd need to lengthen the ball joint post somehow. Because of the way the figure is constructed, that would probably be too involved to pull off nicely. But if you really want to try, you'd probably need a steel paperclip and a small pin vise drill. Plus something that can safely cut the paperclip and a small saw blade to cut the ball post cleanly. I don't recommend it. Chances of ruining the figure are high.

I was thinking of an additional base or plate which could sit between torso and hips to give that height, maybe something with epoxy or possibly 3D printed
Are there any ball joint solutions I could use? Like a ball socket with a ball peg attached to it and that could serve to heighten the connection

SRCs didn't age well and I'm hearing more and more stories of them practically disintegrating with time. I've been purging mine.

But I don't know of any existing designs you could use. Maybe the hobby tools section of hlj.com has some generic ball-and-socket pieces you could adapt to work. Elsewise, you'd probably need to design something yourself for 3D printing.

Hmmmm tbf I wouldn't say that, have dekarobo and magiking too, both great figs, it was kinda my own fault that buckle came off since I forced torso twist otherwise sturdy AF
