Base on some comparison videos, people tend to believe that the quality of the TAkara versions are much higher thus higher production cost? Could be because the smaller run since these are made only available for Japan and some various Asia Markets. Most Hasbro MP are available worldwide and perhaps the productions run is way higher. So higher volume of sales keeps price down for Hasbro whereas Takara version needs to be higher price cause there is lower supply. Though it doesn't feel like there is a higher volume of the Hasbro versions cause these Hasbro MP are hard to track down. I was thinking the same thing about Asian market versus the North American market thing but then again I find it BS, coz I just remembered when Hasbro release their MP10 Optimus Prime in Canada. I hardly saw them and It was really hard to get one. I remember I have to go and drive to like 4-5 TRU shops until I finally found one. OK its a TRU exclusive but does it really have to be that hard to acquire 1??? but anyway thou Hasbro MP lineup is quite limited I still feel lucky that Im getting the same(sometimes even better) Masterpiece quality and gimmicks for a cheaper price than Takara. Big props to Hasbro for doin that!!! It's a couple things. Takara supposedly has higher standards at the factor for paint and breakage. Takara does smaller runs, thus there is less of a random chance of you getting a bad piece. Hasbro is the other way, they make a great wall of figures for as cheap as possible (usually less paint apps and cheaper plastic). They sell them cheaper but make 3 times as much.

$99.99 for MP Prowl @ Robot Kingdom.....:-( I am buying the KO version instead. This one should of been priced at $40. If it is any consolation, I don't think the scalpers will touch this one since there isn't much money to be made on it. I think it is about $70 retail here in the USA Toys R Us which makes no sense. It's pretty much the same price, or higher than the Takaratomy version. And for that price, you can almost buy two KO versions on eBay with shipping included.
