Excellent information you got there zankantou. I was suppose to hunt for vintage toys the last time i visited HK but end up with a heap of SOC and bandai stuff because i cant find the vintage chogokins i wanted. The next time i go there, will definitly check out toyzone at Causeway Bay Commercial Building

Volts, sent you a PM already 70srfan, mecha-mecha no problem at all. As a buyer I understand how you guys feel; and being able to help a fellow toy collector is definitely right on. Being a dealer myself, aside from wanting you guys to buy from me I also want you guys to have a good image with our big city and support some of the good toy sellers over here to keep the market healthy. As I have mentioned before, the good sellers - the business is becoming harder and harder to survive. Not to mention how some bigger shops are (in a way) monopolizing the market over here. Having some support from you guys when you are in HK helps them to keep things from rolling. I also want to keep fellow toy collectors away from sh*t sellers that give the industry a bad name over here. Those sellers are the reasons why buying toys is becoming so hard to breath.

Guys I can totally tell you that if you deal with zankantou you will not regret it. He helped me track down a closed wing shin getter. He is a collector like us and you can tell in how he packages and ships. Heck, you can tell in his search because he is not going to let you get a crappy deal! He is one of us. That means more awesome.

Hi zankantou, Again, many thanks for your posts to help out fellow collectors. I will PM you later as I want to know where your shop is for my visit to Hong Kong next year. ;D So far, I have been lucky in my HK toy hunting, I got reasonable prices for my collection (basing it on the Yen SRP per robot/toy), and the toys I bought were all complete. No missing, broken parts It is indeed sad when there are a few rude sellers who turn off local and foreign buyers. But, I am sure it happens in other countries as well. Overall, my toy hunting in HK is fun and rewarding - only my feet are complaining from all that walking!! ;D It is worth it though. Regards, 70's Super Robot Fan

There is one shop you can consider going if you're in Causeway Bay, that is located in Causeway Bay Commercial Building called Toyzone. They deal with mostly vintage items, so it's a good place to check it out. But if you have breathing problems or asthma I suggest you to be prepared before going into their shop. They have a lot of toys stuffed up in a room that has almost no ventilation. Like I said Animate is located around Mong Kok. Good for viewing, but crap for buying. You've been warned, the second time! Sino Center is ok place to check out toys. But over the few years a lot of toys shops have closed down and they have only a few toys shops left in that center. lol, yeah, I agree, Toyzone is nice place to find vintage stuff (Kenner Batman figures, Power Rangers, Kamen Riders,vintage toys) but man the place smells musty. It's like they've never heard of dehumidifier machines ;D Love going to Animate Mongkok to look at their SOC display, theirs is one of the inspirations I got for getting extra transforming SOCs But yeah, their prices are not the best around. 10years ago Sino Center had a lot of toyshops (and porn shops lol), it's a shame to see that almost all of those said toyshops have closed up now. It was a real collecting backtrackers paradise. I got every Takara GGG character there in one swoop. Sigh.. the good old days... Gold

Hi guys , I am just new to robotjapan forums, I am currently working in Hong Kong as an expat Filipino and I've been looking for GX31 or G31V in Mong Kok ( Richmond ) and Inns Point.
so far I found them to be available on this prices:
GX31 = 1480 HKD GX31 V = 2680 HKD
is the price considered a ripoff ? please advise , I hope you can share some insights zankantou or any fellow member, thanks a lot in advance!

Sometimes you can find good prices on SOC's in that range. But the best thing to do is to check before buying. Especially the shops in Richmond, most of the sellers there are notorious for selling second-hand as brand new. If you are concerned about send me a PM and I'll help out.

Thanks Baron Weirwulf for the response, maybe I should be careful if it's advertised as brand-new since this goodies have been discontinued for quite some time
