Nice review optimusprimesg.
Cant believe they didn't make it so you can lock that gun section in cruiser mode. But yeah you made this toy look good!

Problems with Encore Fort Max? It's hit or miss, not all units have all the same problems, just some here, some there (I hope). 0. Red guns on left hand are improperly installed so that they face backwards (fixable: unscrew the hand assembly, flip the gun and reassemble). 1. Cerebros has very tight leg joints (fixable: loosen the screw and/or shave off some plastic). 2. Cog has 2 left arms. 3. The holes to plug in Gasket's guns are susceptible to stress marks. 4. Fort Max's left hand doesn't have the extra circular holder in the fist to hold his weapons. 5. Bottom of Spike's feet has mould flash, making him unstable (fixable: shave off the excess flash). 6. Fort Max has a defective left hip ratchet. 7. Cannon on left leg is loose and is prone to popping out easily. 8. Spike is missing his arms. 9. Missing one or more weapons. 10. Smudged blue paint on the central die-cast panel. 11. Loose knee joints on Spike. My 2nd piece of Fort Max has 2 right arms for Cog. Anyone who has 2 left arms for Cog can swap with me.

Jeez, after reading the issues with the latest MP releases and now with Fort Max, it looks that Takara Tomy's QC is going down.

Glad I passed on this! Don't get the draw at all. I wish it had less QC issues for the fans out there though...

Hard to say, I don't know if the second run will be better since TakaraTomy hasn't officially mentioned anything, all this info is from sellers and fans. Gold

Hows the plastic of Encore fortmax compared to the vintage ones?
i read from someones post this additional problems:
Missing the small green triangle canopy cover on the tower!!!!!
the plastic on this new reissue is bad - the original is far far better
It feel like cheap plastic

Still on the fence about this guy. I like the transformabllity, but not the colors as much.
I see it for $350 shipped from BBTS... Just not sold on this guy yet.
Thinking to save for the METROPLEX... That thing is about 2 feet tall... Looks nice

I am happy with mine, for now. I did not have any of the "major" issues listed on the transformer forums. I'm only 29 and never had max as a kid even though I was in the right age range. I can't tell you how many loose or MIB examples my dad and I (toy would have been for me) have both passed on over the years, even recently.
Right now it saved me thousands, I got Japanese box art and got to sticker up a fort max from new. I made it "mine". I had the early air shipment from BBTS so I was $400 shipped all in. For that "experience" I'd pay that all day long.
When the takara rumors on this piece started 5-7 years ago, before KOs were even a reality, alot of us on TFW2005 had said we would easily pay 500-600 before shipping for one of these of they did it, and that was with an even weaker yen at the time.
My only caution to you is that the piece is not the "same". Looks the same, but nothjng like the original overall. If you are a seasoned collector like i am, you should understand this and expect it going in. I will buy a US original MIB eventually for my original collection. This toy is a different grade of plastic, like all new toys and reissues are. There are some slight mold issues where poor flashing or assembly had caused bulging, some of the plastic stresses easily in other areas as well. The stickers are very unforgiving, and well if you screw one up on application, you better be prepared to live with it (because they will tear if you try to take them off) or place an order with reprolabels.
So as I said I am happy with it, and although I will not sell mine anytime soon (and don't plan to sell it anyway) I have a friend who has an original fort max and a rid brave max who bought the encore and he is literally just sick and so disappointed. If your heart is in the right place you will love it, but I seriously question takara tomy's and even hasbro's quality and quality control going forward.

I received mine from BBTS as well. I'm a MISB/MIMB collector, and I was very disappointed when the item arrived as I found a large dent (3 inches by 1 inch) in the middle of the item's package and tears along the lower front side). I contacted BBTS to see if I could exchange for one in C8 condition (80% mint or better), but they notified me that for this specific item:
"all of the boxes are in the same type of condition. They each have such imperfections due to the overall size of the box and the additional handling they experienced during the second quality control inspection."
How has everyone else's packaging been? BBTS offered to refund me if I decided to return the item, but RobotKingdom's shipping is so steep. And I'm not sure if RK can guarantee a box in any condition better than what I have now.

I have a pressure dent about 2-3 inches long and 1/4-1/2 inch wide but it is not deep or torn. Its shallow enough that it cannot actually be pushed out from behind, so it is there for good.
No tears on my box but has a little shelf wear. I will be honest with you, I believe their excuse. Takara was probably shuffling these things so fast around the factory, then count the two to three trips overseas, the move through BBTS warehouse and packing, and then shipping to you by the carrier.
We're lucky they are not worse. You could try a return, then always have a close friend buy one for you and see if you get a "better" one.

My box looked pretty decent. I guess I got lucky. I didn't notice any excessive denting or wear. My box is on display and i'm not even a display in box only collector, but I couldn't help myself. This is Fortress Maximus after all.

Yes my box is on display right now also. The pressure dent is not that bad, sounds worse than it looks. You can only notice it when the light hits it or if you are looking at the box on an angle. But I figured it was worth mentioning since he asked.
I will say that the shipping box BBTS sent it is had good thick bubble wrap and the box was sturdy enough, but they did not use enough tape. Both sides of the shipping box nearly busted open at the seams on both sides. I am actually going to send BBTS a message and let them know about that for future heavy shipments. I just haven't had a minute.
