So, is this interpretation of Grendizer really that bad?? I mean, I'm not trying to change anyone's opinions or anything (not that I ever could here). But, honestly isn't this release just one of many interpretations. Does every single Grendizer release have to meet this vision of "anime accuracy" aka "perfection"?? Again, I'm just asking questions here (devil's advocating). It just seems a bit funny that there were some very aggressive vocal demands for this character 'bot to be released as an SRC. Now it is....and we hate it? When I saw this thread I sort of chuckled a bit and thought, "wow, they're [Bandai] going to do it." I didn't realize the passion felt for this particular robot, and the nearly overwhelming backlash the few pictures would bring forth. The bright side: It is early. Maybe it's a prototype?? *shrugs* If anything, Bandai will more than likely milk this IP as they have others so there is likely a shot that another interp could see a release down the road. Either way, I come from another passionate fan-base my self. I'm sure no one has heard of it. Mobile Suit Gundam (geez what a bunch of whiners they are). *insert tongue in cheek* Seriously, if there's one thing Gundam fans complain about more, it's proportions; and with so many designers lending their works, there's a lot of opportunity for backlash. It is hard though. With all the designs brought to us via Bandai for Katoki vs. Okawara vs. Kawamori, I do think they strive for some balance! Ah well. I guess my point is, with all of the other versions of one character 'bot we're bound to get 2-3 that look a little different from what we imagine. I'm looking forward to seeing what this version of Grendy has in store for us. I might even add this one to my own collection!

Although to me the SOC grendizer is the best rendition untill now, im still think this SRC is also not that bad. Just think of it like the "new era" grendizer, more up to date for the new generations to collect.

You're right.
In retrospect, I do like variation on particular character when I collect that particular character. Older variation add lot of charm to character and its collection.. For example, I now collect Getter Dragon and you are right I DON'T want every piece to look the same...
But having said that, as a first time die cast Grendy buyer, I just wanted a "normal anime accurate" may be slightly stylized piece I guess.....and Metaltech nor SRC isn't it for me.
It won't bother me as much if it is based on something though.

I sent a pic of this SRC to HLPRO, they were qute amused. The new MTO1 is gonna blow all the other Grendizers away I think..It may be a year or away though. The new CM will be good but it will just be Grendizer, no enemies or anything else to go along with it. I agree with Dammage7.. "God bless HLPRO"

I think is the how some people where expecting to see Grendizer been more to his original anime accuracy as oppose to see another interpretation of its incarnations. Bandai could have done the same anime Grendizer that many people would have like to see and have like CM or HLPro but here is where the problem is, what Bandai's anime Grendizer is gonna bring different than the other 2? they pretty much would have been the same except on diecast content or size. there is already 2 new Grendizer with "anime" accuracy so why some people wish to have another one that is gonna be pretty much the same thing and nothing new or fresh. there is a level of danger in this.
Take for example TMZ post in some pages back, he already compare this to Shin Mazinger since he hates everything on that show (understandable) and Grendizer is been altered to be Shin Mazinger. but Shin Mazinger Z design was base on Ken Ishikawa's version, same deal with this Grendizer incarnation, this is Ken Ishikawa's version and not been base on Shin Mazinger.
another example is Dammage 7, if this is not the pure true Grendizer like in the anime then its considered crap (ironically his suppose to be Grendizer fan).
i understand why some people are kinda disappointed that is not the anime version instead, I was more expecting to see a more proportionate like the first 2 SRC MAzinger Z and Great Mazinger, never expected they would go the Ken Ishikawa route.
But im glad they did really, another Grendizer variation to anyones collection.

That's true too....I do see your point. Man~this is a great time to be a Grendy collector then. BTW, Don't anybody forget about Metalboy Grendy. So all together there are going to be at least four grendies from four different companies from now to end of next year...
Yet, the "picky picker" like me just have to wait more for my "reasonably perfectly standard" Grendy for a reasonable price....

LOL... Now we all have to like anything that is put out? Sorry gents. I can accept figures like this will happen, but I don't have to like them fellows! Let's just not drag this thread down the "he likes, he doesn't like" road and just stick to the figure, okay. }D

I agree TMZ. I imagine this design is coming out of some love inside of Japan since we Western Otaku mean little when they design. Sounds like this design is based off a specific drawing though. Interesting.

We just need to put stuff in perspective its a TOY, its based on a CARTOON, its not like we're talking about politics or religion so enough of the respect this or Grendizer deserves better or whatnot. Yes there are some very loyal fans and the character has caused enjoyment but let's try and look at things with a level head. Its just a TOY which essentially means its useless except to cause joy. If you don't like don't buy it, I'm sure Bandai will still sell thousands of units and this Grendizer sure won't be the last one made anytime soon. Also everybody has their preference some want anime accuracy, some want to manga look, some want a more stylized look, some want updated ones. Personally I don't want a toy that looks like it stepped out of a 70's Anime because the truth is the level of animation quality was piss poor and inconsistent. So let's not get to freaked out, its still a early prototype and it is just a toy let's just see and treat it for what it is.

Yeah Gettershadow, I LOVE this community. RJ bros are some of the most nice and polite people I had pleasure to meet anywhere. I may sometimes have narrow views and be stubborn, but you guys are always respectful and understanding.

I seriously don't understand what the problem is? Yeah the thighs are kinda thick but that's probably the Shin Mazinger influence plus Grendizer should have powerful looking legs considering it has to jump in the air to dock with the Spazer and stuff, remember Grendizer can't fly on it's own (which is kinda dumb). The forearms are large but I like that considering Grendizers punch attacks are a huge part and they should look like they could punch a hole through a mountain. For me it's the face with the squinty eye look that I find a little off but other then that I like it. I do wish the legs were painted darker though. Also you can see how the camera plays tricks with size, you can clearly see how much smaller it is compared to GX-04S but because of the angel and lack of depth perception in some pictures it looks bigger.
They should also paint the cockpit a light blue instead of all silver, it would help break up all the purple and silver. But of course this is a rough prototype.
