I see mention of T.O.P so it could either be influenced by their designs, designed by them, or is a SRC version of their statues.

Ah. I see now. Thanks Chen! Looks like they bulked him up even more. Oh yeah! I agree with TMZ though, he does need a bit more neck. I love his thighs though. To carry something with that much weight you need big wheels! Plus, makes him look like he is more in proportion. He is looking more and more like a bodybuilder robot! OOOOOH YEAAAAH!
Oh and who is T.O.P?

T.O.P is a company that put out high quality resin models of a lot of Go Nagai stuff in a stylized sculpt. They later released some of those models as PVC statues. You can find them on Ebay and some hobby stores that specialize in resin kits.

Okay, I thought left was the old original model with the "curly flower" forearm, and the right was the "massaged" new proto type with more conventional proportion...

I second that...especially the shoulders, cause the one on the left looks like the older bulkier shoulders where the right one looks more proportional.

The one one on the right is the updated one,its toned down and looks less REVOish.Take a look at the proto below ,the proto has the more opened forearms and bigger leg fins and bulky shoulders like the one on the left.Therefor the updated one is on the right. The most important thing was not addressed though, the upper thighs, much too large. Now this new version looks like it cant make up its mind if its a Shin version or an anime one. Please Bandai pick one or the other.

Thanks Bluetengue for the awesome present and Merry CHristmas. Now he just needs a beefy football player's neck and about %15 longer legs. That would be closer to "my ideal" Grendy.
Not too thin and not too beefy.
Oh, and congrats on DX Baron. I'm sure I'll be happy as lark too when I get my EX Dragon end of next year..hopefully.

Good to see that they are making adjustments to the figure, I did like the modern take to some extent but if they finally decided to make it look more like the classic anime Grendy I'm all for it. Now Bandai just needs to trim those thighs and give us some nice pics of action poses

I just think its the wrong approach, they need to go back to the anime and look at the posters and go with what they actually SEE in those drawings. Grendy doesnt have that build.. hes got a different body-style.

Well, their is obviously an aesthetic that the Japanese fans like more than the other. They are going for that. Remember, western otaku mean nothing in regards to this *-)

I believe the majority of Grendizer fans like the classic look better. I don't think there are that many younger Grendizer fans anyway. Bandai just wants to milk the Ishikawa style used with Shin Mazinger, but it already seems they are getting a lot of pushback from the serious fans of the classic robot. }D

actually this is not the Ishikawa version anymore since they are basing the design from T.O.P. for the looks of it.
but then again bandai wouldn't be able to make classic Grendize since HLPro holds the license for both the manga and the Toie version, therefore not leaving many choices for Bandai to do a Grendizer figure unless they do a hybrid version, which i wouldn't be surprise if they go that route.

The TOP is based on Ishikawa version, there is no doubt about that. Check out the Ishikawa drawings and you can clearly see it. }D
