I'm thinking of getting my first SOC. I've been looking really hard at the Combattler V GX3. Any thoughts? Mostly a jumbo collector but I do have a bunch of die casts. I'm just really curious about them, I've never even seen one. Tom

Get the gx-50 instead. It's much nicer.

Yeah get GX-50 if you can afford it, GX-03 is decent but like it's designation it was only the third SOC made and is over a decade old now. If you want make a list of SOC's you like and we can give you opinions about them and what prices they should go for.

Tom I am in the same boat. No SOCs in my collection. Don't really by modern but thinking about four or five that range from cheap to $$$. Generally though if they made a later version or revision (rather than a straight reissue) then that later version is the one to get.

Yeah but the cost differance is up there $400 compared to $135! $400 is a decent MIB jumbo. I know what your say though, as with most things, they get better as the bugs get worked out. I paid $100 for my Combattler GT series. It's making it hard to come off of the cost for a newer one thats more expensive. Sigh.... I'll probably decide one night while frustrate over not finding any jumbos. Although I must say, the MA series females look great! Tom

Thanks mecha-mecha! I guess it'll all be up to my taste. I believe the Shogun trinity may end up being a must. I just wish they were a little bigger. Lol. I know I'll end up with a couple, I just have to figure out which. Tom

Talked myself right into one. After 3 hours of looking, I pulled the trigger on a great deal , GX-12MAG Limited GOLD VENUS A. Should be arriving in July. From what I read, it's one of the harder ones to get? I just liked the way it looked!

Yes and no. Unless the market has changed a lot recently, none of the Mazinger Angels are really difficult to get, except the Snow White Aphrodai. Queen of Gold Venus and Marine Blue Mermaid Dianan would be next, but you can still get them for close to or even less than their release-date eBay price if you're patient.
Of course, there's also the original GX-11 Dianan, but that's not a Mazinger Angel.

Thanks Krimpov! That's how we learn... I like the MA series, I figure if I'm buying newer one, I might as well stick with the newer look. I'll still pick up the trinity though, that's the three I grew up with. Tom

Man a good advice is to get gx 61 daiojah it is a great heavy toy with lots of play value and it is going now for a good price around 170 $ I can advice you to get the gx 3 if you can find it for 70 $ or so which is possible right now because you can't go wrong with a combining die cast figure for that price Other wise then be prepared to pay 220 $ for gx 50

Almost $300 with shipping... How tall is the GX50?

Yeah shipping costs suck, but GX-50 is about 9.5-10" which if your used to Jumbos is tiny but no Jumbo can do this and look as good doing it

Combattler V is so cool. I really love my GX-50. Few things beat fiddling around with your GX-50 while simultaneously watching the vintage Combattler V anime.
