For my own taste, I'd stick with the metallic version, and just add a chrome sword to it.
The chrome version is too bright for me, and the detail gets lost in the reflections when photographed in various lighting and background settings.

I like chromed robots too and I was upset when Bandai announced the release of this chromed Mazinkaiser cuz I already had bought the first SRC one but now I believe I am OK with my regular color Mazinkaiser. The only pieces I wish to have from the Chogokin Z ver. on my regular ver. figure are the mettalic swords and the shiny scrander and chest plates.Yup I am quoting myself w/ Goldorak's photo! Thanks, Goldie!

Im thinking of getting the chome JUST for the sword to add to my regular Maz SRCs,I hate flat silver swords, how many flat silver swords are in real life that youve seen? ZERO haha. Why don't you just spray your Kaiser blades? This would be a nice idea for a model kit. I wouldn't gamble with this on an SRC unless I've practiced applying this in such a manner that won't have the chrome running and dripping. I've had enough practice with metallic silver spray-paint to get a firm clean coat on larger plastic objects after proper sanding. But even so, I wouldn't try it on the metallic SRC Mazinkaiser swords- because that would degrade the value of the figure. I would seriously have to know what I'm doing before I make that move; because once the process begins there's no turning back as soon as you've begun altering the original object. Not everyone can pull off a good modification on an SRC figure, especially in the paint aspects. We can't "just spray" stuff on our figures. lol If someone already has a metallic version SRC Kaiser, and wants the chrome swords, they can choose one of two options: Buy the Chrome SRC Kaiser and borrow one of its swords for the metallic Kaiser. -OR- Have the metallic sword professionally chromed or nickelized, if the material of the original SRC sword can withstand the process... I think it's called "electroplated" or some form of dipping method. I don't have any experience with chrome or nickel-plating. So it's best explained by someone who actually does this technique. zozo-mag

Why don't you just spray your Kaiser blades? well I would except the chrome spray out there never looks truly chrome and most brands never drie fully on plastic...also rather have it original..probly just get the chrome one..i have an extra original if per chance someone wants to trade...

I hear there's a company in the USA that does chroming...I've been wanting to send the leg plates from my G1 Scorponok to be re-chromed but never got around to it.
I'm sure there's a lot more than just that one tho, but this one specialize in plastic.

Hi all, here's a quick look at SRC Mazinkaiser Chogokin Z Color version Mazinkaiser in action! (From the Mazinkaiser vs Great Darkness General movie) The chrome finish is very nice, but it does seem to scratch very easily, particularly the head. Scrander Cross Turbo Smasher Punch Fire Blaster Kaiser Blade! Just like the original, we get an "oversized" Kaiser Blade, for those "Anime-proportioned" poses. Comparison with the first version. I don't know if it's just my eyes, but it does seem that even the black plastic parts seem to be slightly shinier on this version too. The metallic red is just right, thankfully Bandai didn't go nuts and painted it candy-colored red. I'm hoping the upcoming 40th SOC Voltes will have this sort of finish too. Interestingly, the slot for the Kaiser Scrander on mine seems to be missing paint apps? Anyone else have this? Overall, I like it a lot more than the original. But I think it only works if standing alone, it looks sort of out of place next to the non-chromed Mazingers and Grendizer. I really hope Bandai considers doing a General Dark figure for Mazinkaiser to play with. Or at least some villains for the SRC line. Gold

As usual, very well done review Gold I'm not buying Mazinkaisers (for now, at least) but oh boy does that chrome finish look beautiful, hehe.

Great job Gold. The chrome finish is very shiny, beautiful one but I considered to pass this one and got the SKL instead.
