Anyone know of any side by side comparisons between the original Metal Build Strike Freedom and the new 2018 Soul Blue version? Lots of side by side comparisons with close up details. Slightly different colors and more tampo markings on the Soul Blue figure.

The biggest difference is probably for soul blue has a matte finish while the original release had a glossy finish and whatever jakcrow said

I don't even know why it's a thing. The changes are so minor especially for the limited run and ridiculous price. I'd take the MC SF Pearl or Sapphire versions over this. On the other hand I would hope Bandai has learned something and that the extra tampo markings should be normal on MB figures.

Or they learned that people are willing to pay more for it on their more popular mobile suits and come up with more exclusive versions.

I think the first edition Colors looks better but the tampo really add something. The first release with the tampo would be the perfect one. I'm saving to get one of this (it's the only MB I missed and really want in my collection).

Absolutely digging the Crossbone. I hope they do the full squad, I can't wait to see what a Metal Build Full Cloth would look like. Just to show off a little, I finally finished a project I've been wanting to do for a long time and made a double Detolf by just sawing the wood tops and bottom and wedging them together: Also did anyone ever end up getting two Avalung kits? I'm thinking of picking up another one just to add some more shields and swords to this guy. At this point it's basically a Gundam-shaped shield delivery system:

^ This (detolf) is what I need but don't have the space for it.

The Detolfs are such an incredible value for the price... Modifying them to be a double-wide was just a matter of dialing in the table saw. At some point I'll probably try to refinish the top and bottom to be seamless, but it's so close to perfect right now that I'm not too bothered.
On a separate note, I impulse bought a second Avalung set for my Astraea. Get ready for even more overkill.

Would that compromise the structural integrity, or is it primarily held by the steel portions, so it's a matter of cutting the base and top close enough to put together? I want to do this as well, just waiting to move into a new house since these things are so darn heavy. At the moment my collection is still lying in their boxes =(

I'd say it is a tiny bit more wobbly when freestanding, but once you push both cases together they're solid. Good call on waiting for the move, I'd be terrified of shattering some of the tempered glass in transit.
