Man, just what I wanted to see father and son robots. It's what I told Baron to do, if he thought that GGG would stand out too much in his collection. GGG is tall...

Did Genesic Gaogaigar use Hammer? I don't buy GGG because a train on his shoulders. I'll wait for the one without the train. But for accessory or weapons. I need to get it now. Yes GGGG did use the Goldion Hammer (and then the Goldion Crusher) in the last ova of GGG Final. But we don't know if Bandai will ever make an SoC Genesic GGG. They made it in SRC form, but an SoC GGGG would be a) amazing and b) very expensive... That doesn't mean I don't want one we just don't know if it will ever become reality. GaoFighGar would be nice to have too... Bro, Genesic GaoGaiGar never used the Goldion Hammer, only the Goldion Crusher. Only GGG and GFG used the Goldion Hammer. }D

I'm 100% sure Goldymarg will be transformable to both robot, tank, and forearm as well. }D

I was a GGG illiterate till a few months ago as well buddy. I stumbled across the show (easy to find on the net, even youtube has the whole thing I believe) and instantly liked it. Not only that, the more episodes I watched, the better it became. And kept getting better and better till the end of the series. It truly is an outstandingly good super robot anime, one of the best the 90's had to offer probably. It's not as classic as Mazinger Z, Voltes V or Golion. But if you like the aesthetic (the train-shoulders may put someone off) I highly recommend watching it. Has lotsa shouting, cool attack names, transformation, combinations, good music, good characters, good enemies, and always-escalating epicness.

Just received mine this past week and wow am I impressed. This is one solid SOC. Bandai really did a fantastic job of the engineering on this one and the QC is very good too. Just have to find the room to set it up. I am now very glad that I took a chance and ordered it right after Christmas when HLJ had it up. This is without a doubt one of the highlights in the SOC line-up.

I think the GGGG version gets hidden better since it is a dark colored train, and sleeker looking.

I think the GGGG version gets hidden better since it is a dark colored train, and sleeker looking. Well... not really. GaoGaiGar has that Shinkansen (Liner Gao) that passes through its trunk and essentially becomes the shoulders and arms of GGG. GaoFighGar uses a rocket (?) called Liner Gao II, that transforms a bit thanks to a giant hinge I suppose, and more or less works just like the first Liner Gao. And Genesic GGG has 2 animal-themed machines, Broken Gao and Protect Gao, respectively a shark and a dolphin, that insert their tails in Genesic GaiGar. Then, the 2 tails lock together. So each form of the King of Braves had something different not all of them used trains as shoulders.

Nice comparison and tons of detailed picture.. what took me so long for the Gaogaigar's transformation is the step to split the back area of the waist in order the Stealth Gao's bracket be placed.. never notice that there was a switch like thing inside the Gaigar's chest where the Linear Gao goes thru.. that it automatically splits Gaigar's waist at the back.. such a tricky thing to transform.. Is anyone else making do without the brace that clips on to the back of GGG, which attaches to the stealth gao? I find it totally unnecessary, and have been transforming mine without the aid of the brace. The do-hickeys on the stealth gao that attaches to the shoulders of GGG, plus the mane attachments that connect from the stealth Gao to the GGG are more than enough to maintain a firm connection. Is there another need for the brace that I'm not aware of?

I'm curious too on this one, I transformed mine to GGG and haven't transformed him back because of this back brace, kinda concerned if its sturdy enough for me to remove it. I had to fight it to get it to lock in place the first time so kinda curious how folks are handling theirs with this one.

I only got to know about this SoC now (I'm more into kits than figures and toys, overall), and... my god... it's glorious! The anime-accurate combining... the fully-articulated hands... the friggin' HIDRAULICS on the Dividing Driver!.. ... and then I looked at the price. DANGIT, guess that's why they call it SOUL of Chogokin! That's how much it costs. I'll stick to my SRC GGG for the time being. A veeeeeeeery long time being... XD

The connection between the backpack (stealth gao) to the main body is tight enough without the brace, so I was wondering what other uses the brace had. EDIT: OK, I figured it out. That black brace is more of an aesthetic tool. It covers up the arms that are tucked into the backpack so when you view the figure from the front, you'll see the figure's waist against a black background which the black brace provides. Nice touch by Bandai, but I don't feel the need to cover that area up and foresake the perfect transformation of the figure.

I was wondering myself and just remembering having to fight this connection piece for a bit before it locked in.. and yes now I'm a little cautious in unlocking it after the initial formation. I know for most parts I will keep it in GGG form, so I remembered after the initial transformation I was just happy looking at it in its final fusion form and just thinking the connector seem to be a little loose in its adherence to the back as it popped off multiple times in my initial attempt at connecting the stealth goa and back plate onto the figure. XD If you go back to earlier in this thread when we found out how much it would cost, I was the same as you - I saw the pricetag and immediately wrote GGG off as a toy I could never justify paying for.
Long story short, I bought it. I've seen video after video that has done nothing but praise GGG's accuracy and engineering. Add Bandai's official tutorial video to it, and I realized that I would forever regret not getting it at retail price while I still could.
Oh, I DO think it's worth what they ask for it, with all the cool stuff it has, along with how big that thing is!... I just don't have the money for it, period. XD I guess I'll keep waiting for Kotobukiya (most likely) to announce a non-SD kit of this guy. Like I already mentioned on another thread, there's one by Aoshima (discontinued), but it's just terrible. The kind that needs modding just so the parts don't fall off everytime you walk nearby it.
