Yeah, except no matter how you look at it, the Goldion Hammer is still just a giant squeaky mallet.

Damn now Im depressed I feel like Im missing out on something BIG.Im not into this series,as most of you know I only collect 72-84' with spinoffs. But I guess I could make an exception and get this guy?! I don't know the reason why you only collect robot toys from shows that only aired between 1972 and 1984, but during the 90's, unless you enjoyed some early days' CGI nonsense... or Neon Genesis Evangelion, the Brave Series was the way to go if you were a super robot fan. Sunrise did it once again, and it just kept getting better and better until 1997, when it culminated with the apex, the non plus ultra: the King of Braves, GaoGaiGar. I watched the anime only recently, and I can safely assume it's one of the best SR shows I've seen. The transformation/combination sequences, the fights getting increasingly greater in scope, they nailed everything, the whole thing is just a joy to watch. Of course it's not perfect, I'd nitpick over 2 or 3 things, but overall it's very very good. So of course I'm excited about this SOC release. If they do things right, this could end up being a monster of an entry in the line, an over-9-inches combiner which can turn into a giant lion? I'm sold. Also, they may end up releasing the Goldion Hammer as well, which would just add to the awesomeness. Think of it as the super-sized tomahawk Shin Getter 1 uses, but even more imposing If you don't want to watch the show it's fine. I won't get it as soon as pre-orders start, I want to make sure Bandai does a great job with it. Mainly stability and anime accuracy-wise. Until then, I'll just keep on saving money for it I only collect from those years as i consider them teh classics, they share a similar look, color and style. After 1984 most Super Robots were just rehashed Gundam looking, bland,no color but greys and blacks, over complicated, the simplicity of the design was gone, which was the crux of SR art, they all looked like NO imagination was used.Think of this,Classic Srs were old time catchy rock and roll, new SRs are Prog rock, overcomplicated which in fact becomes trite. In teh end they lost style. The only modern SRs I like are spinoffs like Mazinkaiser or Shin getter etc.Sure once and a while a creative SR comes along but it is usually an homage to the old. Alot of comes from what i was raised on too,I was born in 1973 so Shogun Warriors toys and the early VHS/Beta tapes of Gaiking,Danguard along with TV shows :Tranzor Z and both Voltron were what I watched growing up.This all reflects my collecting...1972 begins with maznger and 1984 ends with Bismarck who needs a modern rendition BTW what happend Miracle? Make that Bismarck!

One interesting thing, that really got me into the Brave robots, is they are pretty much responsible for reintroducing Super Robots back into Japanese culture

There are things that cannot be outdone.Bandai would have to come up with an extraordinary combiner/transforming Gurren Lagann to outdo the Konami one. That figure is a thing of impossing beauty! }D

That figure is a thing of impossing beauty! }D Agreed. But if Bandai came up with a Gurren Lagann, of decent size, articulation and stability, and you could pop its head off and pose the Lagann part separately from the Gurren, and Gurren was actually shorter than the combined form (as it happens in the show) ad had extendable legs to do so... + attachable wings, of course... Oh boy. As I said, a man can dream. Maybe one day I'll witness such a beauty with my very own eyes

A full transforming Gurren Lagann need to be very tall if you want a descent size for the Lagann. I am ok with my Konami GL and Lagann. I just need Enkidu and Lazengan (waiting the sentinel version). Enki series by Revoltech are not bad but too little for me.

Heh, if we are starting to ask for secondary characters/enemies, then my wish goes for a nicely articulated King Kittan And I'd be happy even with a 1" Lagann, just give him rotating tiny arms and legs which can be taken out during gattai, and we're set

Okay, so we're getting it December according to that picture, but what's that price supposed to be? A whooping 32400 Yen??! Considering it doesn't even come with the Star Parts and Goldy... that's steep. 260 MM or roughly 10.25" Thread title edited. Gold
