Guys , we might talk about this topic for hours trying to make the image of korean super robots shiny but the fact remains that all of these were simply a horrible rip offs of the original japanease super robots ! And most of them were done many years after the original japanese superrobot was aired and all of them were horribly ani ated / written! I remember the mazinger X (korean one horned grendizer) , eh ! That thing sucked so hard you can't even imagine! Aoshima did rip-off Space battleship Yamato, Mazinger-Z, Mac Baron and Jeeg to name a few. And now a days, they are wildly accepted with the recent releases and upcoming releases of these rip-offs by Evolution Toy. Yes, I agree Korean anime sucks. But some original Japanese Super Robots anime sucked too.

I have to say the yellow Korean Batman takes the cake,I kinda like him LOL. Just shameless ripoffs ! All of them , even batman drawing is a ripoff gatchaman most famous illustration! Nothing good about them! The most unique one was takewon v which also was a ripoff! And the funny part that they updated taewon v later but he lost all his unique features and became a regular ripoff! It is a funny part of animation history!

I say that although the Koreans ripped off tons of Japanese stuff, It only adds to the colorful history of the entire idea of super robots. The Koreans loved the idea of the giant mechas but as they are nationalistic in their own way at the time, hence the rip offs. Either way, it is kinda interesting in its own way and brings its own flavor for mecha enthusiasts like us today ...

Well, I did receive my book this past Friday. Although it is text heavy (man, I need to learn Korean), in my opinion Lennono's drawings of these super robots are top notch.
And although I cannot read the language, I can see thru its pictures the history behind every super robot. As Green Getter Guy mentioned, the book shows the original Japanese robots and anime which inspired each Korean super robot.
I find it quite interesting that while some robots were based on original Japanese properties, Grendizer was taken as is, with no design modifications including its Spacer, and then renamed Mazinger-X.
This book is very rich in korean anime history, with lots of crazy movie poster pictures. One of the movie posters that caught my attention was a Mazinger-Z poster with Koji as Superman. Fying with tights and cape, simply funny. It also has a chapter of Korean anime series that were exported into the U.S. and compiled into a single movie; i. e., Space Thunder Kids.
I just wish that it had more info and pictures of toys released for each Korean property. Other than that, I will recommend it to any super robot fan who is into obscure franchises.
Saddly, my book did not come with a poster or stickers. I will ask the seller for them, but I am afraid that since the book was released about a year ago chances are that those bonus items were limited to a certain number of copies.

DAAAYUM!!! zozo-mag Funny thing is that in my Korean Super Robots book there is a black & white picture of this statue. And it looks like that it had a different color scheme. For example, instead of the yin-yang, the circle on its chest was of a solid color.

I realize the Koreans had some peculiar takes on the Japanese super-robots. But that big Great Mazinger thing with the huge feet and shoe laces takes the cake! lol zozo-mag

( and one inside Bogie's! lol) zozo-mag
