Hi, should I get this coming or the reissue of GX-13r from Bandai? Please give me your opinion, especially if you have both. Thanks.

Hi, should I get this coming or the reissue of GX-13r from Bandai? Please give me your opinion, especially if you have both. Thanks. Two very different toys. If you like bigger, bulkier, heavy diecast loaded, and feels more vintage gokin, get the SOC. If you like more modern looking detail and sculpt, better articulation, though smaller- get Sentinel. My personal feeling- SOC wins in classic robot design. The overall weight of the combined figure is much more satisfying to hold. I also feel the SOC is harder to break. Sentinel wins in combined mode, and has the more anime proportions. It can pull off more action poses since articulation is fantastic. This new version will have diecast shoulders, since the plastic shoulder joints were a huge problem in previous releases if you weren't careful. Here's a size comparison pic I found online Sentinel (left) vs SOC

One other bit, just to share the weights between the 2 I'm using the KO Sentinel version since it has the diecast shoulders, the new Sentinel should be about 790g (1.74 lb) with Gundor attached. The original Sentinel is less than this but I never wrote it down. The SOC weighs 1164g (2.57 lb) with Gundor attached.

I'd like to ask two follow-up questions: 1) Would you say the Sentinel version is like the height of a Metal Build? But the SOC version is like the Psycho Gundam Metal Composite? I hope you collect Gundams, too. 2) I am ok to skip the black wing. The Gx-13r reissue is under preorder and it can be had for < $250. But the Sentinel version with Black Wing is like $450! Is the black wing and the overall " Sentinel-ness" worth that extra $200? This may either be my first SOC or my first Sentinel. I am a Saint Seiya and Metal Build collector. Thanks.

To be honest,I kinda like my Black Wing on its own. His ability to turn into a wing pack is a nice addition. Granted I am loving what Bandai is doing for their SoC Black Wing. So personal preference.

Thanks. 1) I do collect Gundams too. Typical MB Gundam is 18cm. The Sentinel Dancouga is 22cm at the head. GFFMC Psycho Gundam is about 18cm, and SOC GX-13R is 26.5cm. Hope this helps. 2) Yes this Sentinel price is hefty because it comes with Black Wing. In the past, Black Wing was released stand-alone for somewhere between $150-180. But after inflation, the combined price seems fair-ish. SOC Black Wing is coming as a P-Bandai release next year and will be $200+. I would say, if you're not interested in Black Wing, but want the Sentinel, I'm sure many people will be selling their older Dancouga for the new one. Or you can get the KO, which is not bad for the price. If you're interested in SOC, you can read the difference between GX-13 and GX-13R in Gold's review, linked here: robotjapan.proboards.com/post/399156/thread
Sentinel is a smaller company than Bandai, so their releases tend to be pricier, and less units produced. For those who don't know, Sentinel also releases products under the Flame Toys, 1000Toys branding.

Something is inconsistent with Amazon's charge. I'm looking at the invoice at around 41K yen shipped with that being around 390+ USD with the current conversion yet the charge showing up on my financial account is close to 420 USD. It can't be my bank as other purchases from Japan have the correct conversion amount.

Maybe they can see internally what was charged .

The shoulder joints are now diecast, not fully diecast as the Chinese bootleg, but it should be adequate.. I hope

Shipping is still the same. Even the account reflects this. The rep from the chat cannot figure out the reason and had to forward it to another department. Has anybody here from the USA ordered from AJP? I want to cross reference if the amount is the same.

You can speak with them over the phone as well but it was 6am my time and was barely awake. The rep mentioned it might be tax but I doubt it as it doesn't add up to the tax amount for my state. I have the same issue. How did you speak to a rep form Amazon Japan? hmm, did you select your payment in USD instead of yen? .. I had it set for payment in yen. The invoice shows it.
