Can someone explain something to me? Is zinc all that expensive?,is it phenomenally more costly than ABS or plastics? Because why is it so difficult to use more of it in toys,

The reason is because in terms of structural design, you have to include stronger joints to handle the extra weight plus you need to work on your stability issues. It all comes down to more parts like ratchets and pressure springs in your figure that you simply don't need with plastic figures.
Revoltech figures for example only use cheap revolver joints and solid single pour body parts but a SOC figure would require a 2 part mold to split the parts, ratchets, springs, rods, screws, etc. Just to achive the same results. Molding is another issue. It tends to be more expensive for metals than for plastics. Its mostly a mater of design costs and part count. Hope that helps

You know, I'm starting to have my doubts about him being a combiner. All we keep seeing is combined mode and non of the individual bots...

Yeah, but the engineering on the SoC is really dated.

All I know is that die cast is basically "junk metal" whatever that means. If you ask me, die cast toys are hella expensive because of nerd tax.

When it comes to buy raw material, metal is cheaper than plastic. When it comes to manufacturing, the manufacturing process for plastic products is way cheaper than metal.
It not only involves molds, but it also involves the tools used to manufacture such products.

Just so no one thinks this has been abandoned. Source: Hobby Magazine 2/2105 By the looks of this prototype picture, it is not going to be a combiner. Which is a bit dissapointing.

Considering what sort of "combiner" Dancouga is, I'm unwilling to believe it wouldn't be a combiner until we see official photos.
Besides, there's some details on the toy that wouldn't make sense unless some sort of transformation was involved.

Google translator sucks, but it looks like Sen-Ti-Nel is stating that Dancougar is pre-combined, not a combiner. Link: ameblo.jp/sen-ti-nel-info/entry-11979823348.html

BTW, out of curiosity why you open posts with "you kids?" Specially when most of us are the same age as you, it sounds demeaning.

It also states they will display all 4 modes, (combined mode, normal mode, humanoid mode, & aggressive mode) at their booth during Wonderfest. This is definitely a combiner.

Its American slang of comradery, its not demeaning my friend, its actually meant to be endearing, its like "Hey gang, hows this going",its not meant in ANY way to be demeaning your taking it exactly opposite of the meaning,Im not talking DOWN,Im talking with, ofcourse we are all the same age,,your misinterpreting it..Its a way of saying hey even though we are older we are still youthful, get it? .Its well known endearing slang here in the USA,Its not LITERAL like Im calling you kids, silly LOL.You just didnt know, most here know what Im saying Im sure, you just arent aware of it,sorry you took it that way,but I hope you get it now.. As far as the Gaiking Im looking at it NOT as a super Robot, but as a cool action figure,it looks like an evil medeivel Knight.
