Did it! Pre ordered one from Mad Toys! Here is the link: www.madtoys-infinity.com/?f_checkoutResult=success#!shop-cart/c1s70 The picture of the back sold me on it. I know this is not the Anime version of Golion, so I'm cool with all the non-anime discrepancies. This is the comicbook version instead, and seems to be almost spot on, if I remember correctly. }D

This figure should be used as a reference model for a live-action GoLion movie! zozo-mag

Wish they would've done something with the black lions legs / backpack in voltron mode.

The Toynami Voltrons have that same leg fold-back effect for the black lion when it's formed in Voltron robot mode, except the fore-legs tucked the paws into the shoulders somehow. And if I'm not mistaken, the SOC Daltanius folded its lion legs back behind the body, as well. For this King Of Beasts figure, the black lion's fore-legs being folded back this way wouldn't bother me at all because I'd be too busy enjoying the formed GoLion robot, anyway. zozo-mag

Black lion video
Why they shot the video in landscape mode lol, lets see LEDs on the canon thats a neat feature but im worried that the joints cant handle the weigth of the canon, the awesome ratchet joints is also here with the articulated claws even the wings and the lion head have ratchet joints, the waist can rotate 360,the legs articulation is amazing

Looks like on this new toy the black lion's front lower legs fold DOWN for combined mode, due to the newer style black shoulder section not being bulky enough to fully conceal it.
The vintage toy, and Toynami toy, both used a front leg that folds UP, and over and hides inside a lift up panel in the bulky black shoulder. This does leave that thin flap as a possible weak spot , especially on Toynami, but it hides the leg better.

its quite odd that such a modern toy was still bested by a 30yr old toy in this one area.. of which being neatfully hiding or tucking black lion's legs. they could have given it a little more effort or time to make it more perfect.. even if to some its just a minor issue anyway.

That does look very nice. It was clever of them to re-design the legs so even if they don't hide away they do have a very mechanical almost piston-like look to them.

The design almost reminds me of a toned down Fewture design.

What I like best about this King Of Beast figure is that the black lion's tail can be neatly tucked away into the robot's butt without interfering with the waist articulation, and it looks like even the tail is articulated for that clever accommodation... ...Thumbs Up for that genius idea. Once in a while the black lion's tail on the Toynami Volt would flop out. And, personally, I don't like how it just folds up against the back... such a cheap cop-out way of tucking away the tail, which looks like a plastic lever. The Trendmaster Voltron is nice for its era; keep in mind the manufacturing technology used back then was more physical than digital-beforehand. These days, the manufacturing technology has become so advanced that a new item gets to be tried and manipulated while in its early design format Before becoming a finalized physical object, thanks to CAD programs... ...The design in CAD can be animated to see how the articulation will work with (or against) shapes and forms so that the parts can get tweaked and tested before they get sculpted and cast in the die molds. I haven't watched any of these recent videos yet, as I'm waiting to see the full-on review by CDX. Nonetheless, judging by the amount of Likes from fans at Mad Toys' facebook page (now over 500 Likes!) this K.O.B will be quite a hot seller upon its release. Damn, I just LOVE the panel lines all over the K.O.B., All Over It! Especially on the wings! The whole thing literally screams with intense Detailright down to every single part! zozo-mag

I guess they might inspired by the Bandai recent design - GX-59 Daltanious. Overall it looks impressive, this 'leg tranformation' design looks fine to me.

I like the sound of that! lol A lion-bot from the '80s with such a modern touch, Priceless! I still would love to see this K.O.B. (King Of Beasts) figure used as a model for a live-action movie. All that's needed is for this figure to be 3D-scanned into a CG modeler program, disassembled, articulated over a skeleton, and animated to some scenes. -OR- record this figure with Stop-Motion animation! zozo-mag
