This thing is certainly from left field and it sure looks like an interesting sentai villain. It's also a fairly large figure 28cm for only 17k yen.

Really? Show me who thought this was a viable item to release. I don't see the target market for this anywhere.

Looks like it may be based on this scratchbuild: www.gunjap.net/site/?p=135606The Tower of the Sun is one of the few buildings that still stand from the Expo '70, a World's Fair in Japan. It also figures prominently in the 20th Century Boys manga and film.

Really Bandai? I'm sure EVERYONE here could think of better robots that deserve this spot.

Wait, this is taking up a GX spot in the SOC line? Or is this something independent?

I first saw this as a scratch build. But it looks like Bandai is making it into a toy now. So weirdly awesome! tamashii.jp/item/10699/

I don't see the target market for this anywhere. I shouldn't even have to point this out, but this is a Japanese toyline.

You guys should look up who Okamoto is and what a huge artistic impact he did for Japan. If you look at the Angels from Evangelion it looks like something Okumoto would have designed, very unique. Plus the actual tower itself is a landmark in Japan, so take the tower throw in Japan's love of robots a ta da here you go.

Well this is pretty much exactly the kind of thing I was subtly trying to hint at. In other words, as bizarre as it may seem, we are not the intended target audience here.
