I'm a massive fan of classic anime robot design (though I would prefer more curved mazinger style limbs and less gundam/voltes V cubes) but if we don't have oddities and weirdness like this and basquatch there will be nothing but stagnation and repeats of the same design. The Kunio okawara that drew zambot 3 could never design genesic gaogaigar, it was only after he understood his own style from drawing so many robots in his comfort zone and understood the contrast to it present in the toy-inspired braves he drew that he understood what would be needed to go into the "least okawara" design. A great contrast to this is Masami Ōbari whose redesign of the very voltes-looking Compatible Kaiser is basically just another gravion. These don't happen in a vacuum, they enter the collective consciousness from mecha designers can draw on and may very well end up inspiring a robot you actually like.
I'm not saying you have to like it but I am saying it deserves to exist.

BUT for me the evolution of SRs should have stopped at 1984.Ever since then they all look like hyper gundams. With the exception of revisited evolved classics such as Mazinkaiser and Getters.

That reminded me of some Japanese toy commercials from the 70's and early 80's. You know, just without the kids playin' around with the toys. You have the figure, a massive evil storm/evil-thing appears and then the toy starts moving, transforms/combines and blows the menace out of this dimension. Classic What I find weird is the figure though. It's a building. A weird one, too. Next up, they're gonna make a Picasso painting which transforms into a bull-head robot covered in polygons...

I just picked up this months issue of Figure magazine. Look at the anniversary gift I found inside.
That is all levels of Awesome! And, here, it looks like it could come to life on its own and sneak around your room while you're asleep! zozo-mag

It's solid metal, non-articulated and around 5cm high. The thought of it coming alive at night is scary but without articulation I think it'll take it a while to reach me. lol

It seems like not too many people were interested in this piece, but I really like him. I picked him up for $85 during HLJ's spring sale. Here is my review!
