Oh man, thats a sweet design! He even got the rhinestuds on the feet that most people miss! Definitive "A" on my list.
All I want is to get reviewed by sir Gold at some point. I love Gold's toy reviews. Perhaps if I make one for him, he will review it?

Well, I give him an "A" for effort... and leave it at that. By the way, there actually is a Bandai Mecha-Collection model of the actual Mazinkaiser OVA Mazinger Z. He should've used that one instead. }D I am pretty sure that wasn't released at the time he did his project. The ones that were available were the regular MC Mazinger-Z and Great Mazinger. But yeah that would have helped making it more accurate.

I think Shapeways sets the prices, per Material and size. So, while a plastic printed object costs less-- if you want an object in, say, Sterling Silver or Metal, it's gonna cost more to print because of the material. Same thing with Size, because now the material has to have a bit more mass to its wall thickness.
As far as measurements are concerned, such as meters and microns, I'm mathematically challenged and intimidated by the math. Because of that, some of my objects turned out too large or have some surface errors. That's why I shied away from 3D printing.

Ninjahandz, you're doing a friggin SchwEEt job with this project!
The CAD drawings make the objects look so "perfect", as others have stated. Of course, CAD drawings and 3D renders almost always make objects appear so perfect because the drawings and renders are absolute, line for line. But I think that once fans have a finished item in their hands they will really see all the work you've put into it and they'll appreciate it.
That second breast plate design would certainly make the toy Pop! And that's how the thing looks in the anime, too.
Stickers..... vinyl stickers would be nice. But as time passes, the edges of the stickers could catch small dust particles that accumulate and make the edges of the stickers appear grimy. So the next best thing to try is a real Paint app.
Or perhaps some form of slightly-extruded surface to bring out the paint-able surface of that breast plate "ashura eye" artwork; and that's IF the printer will allow it.
If I'm not mistaken: very small detail on a printed object would require a high resolution model... the tighter the detail = the higher the resolution of the .STL file object. In that case, for the detail to be super-tight on a 3D object the polygon count must be very high. At this point I start sweatin bullets whenever I try to make a high-polygon object! lol
Reminder: printing an actual physical object from a 3D file format is not as easy as it looks. Let alone, forming the 3D object in 3D modeling programs like Poser Pro, 3D StudioMax, or Lightwave is tedious work. If the program crashes, and the work wasn't saved, all that work is Gone!

Something about that Spider-Pilder, the way it sits inside Mazinger's crown with the legs sticking out and piercing him throughout his head... it looks like an alien evil spirit possessing a hero warrior and turning him into a sadistic killer! zozo-mag

Now that I look at the custom made using the regular Mazinger, I can tell why you guys told me to steer clear from the GX-45 mold. You guys were right, it does look odd. Perhaps I should stick to making a kit for the GX-07 and drop the GX-45 version? I think it will never look great, no matter how hard you try, if you use the wrong figure.
I will finish the kit for GX-07 next week and think about retooling it for GX-45 later on. It's a shame though, 45 had such great body proportions and range of articulation....

Told you so. The Mazinkaiser OVA Mazinger head sculpt is 70% of the Ashura Mazinger. The "Toei" and "Shin" Mazinger heads just don't cut it for that mod. }D

Funniest thing happened to me today. I was cleaning my room and under a bunch of old magazines I found a brand new and sealed GX-07! I was going to buy one this week so imagine my surprise when I found this one. I am sure I bought it at some point in the past but don't even remember when or where. It just makes me wanna complete this project even faster! Anyone interested in some add-ons to make the base look like the hangar with all the mechanical arms? Maybe 2 columns to glue to both sides of the base and a bunch of mech arms to place on the columns? Could be sold as a separate kit for those who want to go a step further. I am sure it would look wicked!

I expect to have the collar done by Monday of next week and that will complete this project. So far the kit comes with:
1 Ashura Pilder in flight mode 1 Ashura Pilder in Spider mode with the option of fat or thin legs (16 legs total) 1 Ashura Pilder in docked mode with articulated tail 1 neck brace 1 set of breast fire templates for painting 1 set of breast fire parts with detailed eyes embossed for easy painting 1 mini surprise (still not sure about this)
Customizers will need to add:
Rhine studs in several sizes styrene straps for arm and legs in several sizes paint and masking tape fume free glue and hobby knife
That's pretty much it!

Oh bro! That is one amazing kit! The embosed chest plates are an AWESOME idea! Also, I'm all for the Ashura Hangar kit, since that custom will deserve to be displayed on it's own! }D

I expect it to be finished by wednesday. Most parts will be included with the kit. Those that are not, I will include a video to show you how to make them EASILY. So far the only parts you need to make yourself are the arm and leg straps (simple styrene strips cut to size). And the spider legs on the head (styrene rod cut to size and glued together, very easy stuff)
The rest is all included as described above in my previous post.
The only part missing now is the neck brace which I am working on as we speak and I would like to make the arm and leg straps and include them with the kit so you guys don't need to buy extra parts. Just the styrene rods, paint and rhinestuds.
Expect a full update on Wednesday.
I advise you to buy that GX-07. Cause this is happening for sure baby!

Bro, where do you get the styrene parts from? I have not been able to find them anywhere... }D

You can do a search for Evergreen styrene rod 2 mm. There are dozens on sites that sell it. By the way, one bag os rods is enought to make 10 figures. Maybe you guys want to buy a bag and share to save. A bag of 10 rods go for $6 to $10.
A second option is to buy super sculpey and roll your own rods ans shape them to look more organic. Super sculpy looks and feels just like play-doh. You can make your own sculptures and then boil them to harden them. You can paint and sand sculpy once hard.
Tamiya putty works the same but requires no boiling. It hardens after a fes hours. It is almost a must to make the tips of the spider legs around the head and those that come out of the mouth guard.
In fact. someone should buy a bag of styrene rods, a bag of sculpy and a few bags of rhinestuds and split it in 10 mini bags and sell them to those making this kit. ;-)
You will also need rhinestuds in 3,4,5,6 and 9 or 10 mm
Again, would be nice if someone buys them and then splits them in smaller bags. Each bag comes with 144 rhinestuds per size. You will much less than that.

I looked into the studs you need the Round domed type to be anime accurate.. not the diamond cut type. Those look silly. when searching on ebay or the net just type in half round rhinestuds or just round rhinestuds..

FINISHED!!!!!
As promised, the kit is finished and on time!
Comes as seen in the picture above.
2 docked pilders 1 spider pilder 2 sets of legs for the spider pilder 1 flight mode pilder 1 set of chest eye templates 1 set of breast fire plates with embossed eyes 1 articulated pony tail
THE KIT IS UNTESTED
If you guys want to go ahead and order it, feel free to do it, but I can't guarantee a perfect fit. Some customization might be needed to have it fit perfectly. For those who can wait, I am ordering a kit this weekend to make sure all parts fit and to correct the ones that don't.
I will also make a second kit to cover the cuffs all around the body for those who don't want to buy styrene strips. That will take a few more days though.
As soon as I get my set, I'll make a tutorial so we can all do this project as a team!

KIT ONLY FITS GX-07
I would like to clone the GX-07 head and shrink it a bit to make it fit the GX-45 body. That would be the perfect figure for this kit!
