Here comes the first member of 6 : -> 19 mm -> this is a great size for Classic/Henkey -> Fp is still sticking to their combiner scale (including Maketoys) -> it won't be cheap...

Daaaaaaamn. It's pretty. But it does look like it's going to have the usual "Dinobot Backpack" of dino-parts. It's a pity that they don't look like they're going to be able to escape that particular design limitation considering how much great work their Function(x) line has done with compartmentalizing and hiding all of the kibbly bits for all transformation modes.
I'm really loving the look of their Swoop, in particular. He looks lean and mean. And it's cool that they're giving them little minicon/targetmaster mans too. The mini-mans look nice and poseable and having little extra figures definitely enhances the "fun factor" of an otherwise standalone figure.
EDIT: Also, available August, yowza. FP loves to announce things and then say "By the way, it's shipping Now!"
In many ways it's a nice change of pace from the companies who announce teasers and then drop off the face of the earth for 1-2 years before the product ever comes out.

The sculpts are great...but, right off the bat, these are non-gokin versus the competition. I'd say that is a bit of a negative. Or is that because I'm such a diecast snob?

I don't know if I really see these as competing with the likes of Fanstoys or Bullfire's offerings, vis-a-vis the gokin content. Those are Masterpiece styled (and sized!) figures, while these are very much more of a classics design. To that end I could see them being pitted against Planet X's offerings, as some people who no doubt don't care overmuch for Fall of Cybertron designs can still see them as being classics-ish enough to justify adding to their collections. ... granted, I think it'd be really cool if these guys had some diecast bits, like Fansproject's Assaulter or Defender did Sadly, the only company that is still putting diecast in non pseudo-MP designs is Perfect Effect - granted they've been doing a hell of a job of it so I'm certainly not complaining

(I renammed the thread to tease about all these competitors in the same scale) Mechaform is proposing Dinobots with G1 template and also other species : ("Paddle" and "Gunk" got the same body and head...) They already have in massproduction the Skyguardian which look pretty descent with a good size to keep G scale line up in Classic scale : More here : www.facebook.com/mecha.form.7/media_set?set=a.1401483310076710.1073741827.100006451639184&type=1Let's get back to dino-topic, FP Dinobots are listed at USD 103... Still expensive. But we know it's difficult to decrease price for these 3rdP items. Planet X is follow FOC design... This is great and gives so much different choices (need money). Check out the last apearance we got during the Borcon : Gorgeous ! From Planet X FB (in january) : Sorry that I think there are some misunderstanding. This is not a confirmation for us to produce all 6 dinobots, we just share this nice picture with everyone. But definitely we are discussing with our teams for each dinobots possibilities. Hope we can announce our next product soon.Planet X Neptune is on preorder for october... (tempting to get them and have a Dinobot Collection)

Nice! Love the chrome! Just preordered one. You do know that the regular retail version doesn't have any chrome right? That version is the TFcon exclusive. Anyway, I preorder one initially just for a birthday gift to a friend. But after seeing the reviews, I just have to get one for myself. No chrome, no problem. I still want this. I love the size too. Not too big, and the selling point is the super nice face sculpt and the overall looks in robot mode is just too awesome. I mean, comparing to the other 3rd party, like Planet X, the FP Sculpt IMO is just so much better. Already loving this line cause I just couldn't really afford the FanToys version and the bigger MP Dinobots. Plus, I don't really care for super accurate G1 styling. I've always preferred the updated way cooler looks/designs from FP.

So, did anyone here got this? I received mines last Friday and got the chance to play with it last night. There is a lot to like but there are some dislike as well. I like the overall looks of the figure. I like the easy transformation. Really nice sculpt especially the face and excellent paint apps without any blemishes or over spray etc... The target master Derpan was better than expected, but that long handle sticking out of the back does suck though. What I didn't like about this figure is the overall how light it feels. The plastics seem a little too thin. This is very consistent of FP, plastic they used on this one is very much the same as the plastic they used on their version of Menasor. Got used to the MMC Predacon plastic. Or the plastic on the Warbot line from FP is much thicker. Haven't broken anything but have to exercise carefulness. Luckily the transformation is easy enough so nothing should break. On my copy, the right elbow is a bit loose. Can't really hold any weapons without it falling down. The shoulder are strong enough but I have to put the arm in a straight position because the elbow bend will not stay if I put it in the forward position. Also the head on mines is a little loose. The neck joints seems to have a bit of a catch or something cause it's tight when I try to twist it to either the left or right side. But once I go past the catch and tight area, it becomes really loose. Still holds the position but looser than I like. Here are some pictures that it took from my phone. I like it enough to say it is worth it.

FP's and Planet X's dinobots haven't really appealed to me, sadly. I know the original Dinobots were pretty simple transformers and as a result they had some pretty kibbly design elements that were part of their robot mode look, but it's still bothersome to see things like the entire dinosaur leg bolted to the side of the robot legs, and the fact that the dino heads just flip back like a giant hoodie. I would have liked to see Fansproject adapt it a little more and make things a little more complex and tidy in robot form, since they're already creating something that's not an identical G1 copy as it is.
Toyworld's dinobots look like they're a bit more of a "slavish" G1 style design, which is why it's extra funny that they're turning them into combiners while they're at it. They also look to be taking a bit more care in the design to hide things like the dino limbs when transformed (although you can still see the stego's head-halves on their first upcoming dinobot release, so there's some of those design cues still there).
I'm taking a wait and see approach with all of the 3rd party dinobots as it is right now. Nothing has jumped out at me as a "must have" just yet.

These things aren't cheap so it is wise to stand back and look at all the options. And you do have lots to choose from. For me though, out of all that I have seen, FP version is just too cool for me to pass on. I not a scale freak and don't really much care for figure that have to be in scale or needs to be G1 Cartoon Accurate or has to be MP styling and scale. I buy what I want to look and while I am disappointed with some aspect of the Columpio figure, I am really satisfied with how it looks in both modes. So I made my choice.
