I always saw the RD line as for "Real Robot" series. Which is why designs from shows like FMP and Evangelion are in this line. It is true that there are many Gundams, I mean, the line started out as being made only for Gundam 00. But it's really expanded since then. Model kits have nothing to do with this, because technically, ALL toys are just pre-built model kits painted up for you. Not to mention, the Gundams released in the RD line tend to go for different aesthetics rather than adhering to the lineart (the upcoming God and Master are Obari-proportioned), or be releases of Gundam designs that don't have proper modern model kits (i.e. Wing)

although Dann of Thursday looks like a real robot to me.. El Dorado's better off with SRC's.... and please leave those super robots with SRC line.. Im also do not want Bandai's jampacking this new metal line with endless gundams..(although im sure it would most likely happen) im kinda thinking more real robots that needed diecast renewals,, some macross mechs stuff probably robotech series like mospeada and southern cross.. add those from votoms, govarian, five-star stories, orguss, galient, megazone 23,OGs,etc.. but its just wishful thinking..

Bandai is just doing what they did to the SOC line with the SRC line, those that can't afford the Metal Build line can afford this one. It's just spreading the market to a wider audience, I doubt the SRC or SOC line will be merged or gone since that doesn't sell as well as the RD and Metal Build stuff and Bandai knows this. This is great news for me though since I would love to buy cheaper SRC priced figures of say Dragonar or some select Gundams but don't want to pay for the larger ones or on't have time to build model kits.

Yeah I need Votoms and Dougram in my collection too, as although not quite classic looking, they do fall into the classic years of 72-84.This is where I have a hard time,Im on the fence about post 84 looking robots to add to my collection,as I feel Votoms and Dougram are post 84 looking. They have none of the classic SR atributes such as form and color but are in fact SRs especially Dougram.

Would love to get my hands on one of these. Hope that in the long run, bandai can focus on modern robots for this line and keep the super robots to the other SOC or SRC lines. Already hoping for a MUV-LUV TSF to appear in this line

SRC = smaller chogokin for Thuper Robots (i.e. More Mazingers TO THE DEATH) MRD = smaller chogokin for Real Robots (i.e. Gundam and etc.)

It looks good, but do we seriously need ANOTHER Hi-Nu? We already have a normal RD for it and an upcoming MG, is Bandai trying to cannibalize itself? I know Bandai Hobby and Tamashii are two different entities, but this is just silly.

I have no doubt that Bandai will re-use existing molds of the popular releases. But from the early pictures taken at the exhibition, the Metal Damashii has much more details, colour separation and decals (in addition to diecast joints).

I'm in, love that hi nu, so it'll be more like 1/144 scale? I don't buy robot damashii so I don't know.
