ofcourse! its OK to purchase used SOCs we all know chogokins are mostly bought by adult collectors who most just like to display them on a shelf. infact some u called "used" are just kept in thier boxes by thier original owners after checking contents. so buying used chogokins sometimes feel like brand new..unlike other toy lines such as transformers or super sentais which are more than often heavily played with.

last "used" or "loose" SoC i purchased was a GX01B from a fellow TF collector. when i opened it the sprues were still there, its like he open it but never bother to display it until he forgot that he owns it.I got it when we met in a TF convention, felt its an odd way of trading a Soul of Chogokin Maz in a Transformers Convention......lol :-)

yeah hehe i always got deals like that. one important factor perhaps regarding good conditoned used chogokin u can always find is.. almost all chogokin collectors will NEVER throw away thier chogokin boxes because they know boxed chogokins have more resale value than loose ones. so these toys after being displayed will never get unneccessary damage and will have comfortable cardboard box home and styrofoam bed to return to. lol

I always find that the few SOC's or CM's that I have purchased as pre-owned/used, they were all well kept and taken care of like how I would take care of them. That's pretty nice to know that odds are with these products, a pre-owned one is in great condition.

The only used SOC in my collection is the GX-02 Great Mazinger. I had ordered it from Japan through Amazon.com with the description saying that it's new. After it arrived it was clearly not the case. I had hoped even a 15 year old release would still be sealed. The foot joints are a bit loose and there is slight dust on the body but what pissed me off the most was that the manual was caught on the side of the box with the foam making it bent almost in the middle. I really prefer buying toys NEW in general, but if I have no choice like with really old releases and I feel that I need it for my collection then I will man up and get a used one.

I just discovered that the one of the rubber threads on my Ideon is falling apart Is there a way to fix it? everyone is getting that and the upper body joint break issue,I dont see how you could possibly fix it? ? I coated all mine with rubber protectant thank god.I dont have even one issue with any of my SOC rubber,Im thinking if you are one of the unfortunate people to keep your figures "out in the open" collecting dust and exposed to the air,you only have yourselves to blame. Not saying its teh case with yours Mazfan, but in general. If someone can afford SOCs you surely they can afford glass detolfs.Im guessing its what has preserved mine, along with proper coating of runner sealant. i also dont understand chrome swords etc getting dulled? I bought an SOC recently used with this issue,I brought the chrome back to life cOMPLETELY with turtle wax scratch remover and a coat of carnauba wax, they are brand new again. But how they got that way makes no sense other than not being cared for. Mazfan let me ask do you use enclosed cabinets?Or out in the open? It comes down to HOW you keep your toys preserved and displayed.Dust and Air are NOT kind on SOCs.

BARON WEIRWULF.... My SOCs are housed in glass Ikea cases.
Thanks for the rubber protectant tip. I didn't know about them. Where's the best place to get them?
SOCs are the only toys I've ever collected. I started about 15 years ago. They are more delicate than I thought.

Hi all,
I was kinda late in collecting SOC (started in 2006 when Voltes V came out). For my SOC Boss Borot & Gaiking; I bought them second-hand via Yahoo Japan auctions. I believe they could have been store displays (no scratches, dust, damage etc).
I even got the Soul of Popinica Mazinger Head with Hover Pilder from YJ for a decent price.....just took my time to get a good deal/

I coated all mine with rubber protectant thank god. That reminds me, I was supposed to get some from amazon.de but I can't for my life forget what it's called. If I'm guessing correctly, it's probably black Liquid Tape ... or black Plasti-Dip. This material is rubber-like. If applied in thin layers it can be flexible. And if you apply more layers it becomes more rigid, almost like soft vinyl. A thick gob of it will dry solid to the core as it's exposed out in the open for a few weeks. And if you don't seal the can and store it properly you'll end up with a nice hefty chunk of a solid rubber brick if exposed out in the open for several months. I once coated an entire black Great Mazinga jumbo's body with several layers of Plasti-Dip, and it felt rigid hard and added a little extra weight*** to the body. (*** I filled the interior with Great Stuff Insulation foam, in addition to the outer Plasti-Dip coat, thus making the jumbo solid and heavy enough to crack somebody's skull! lmao) www.plastidip.com/home_solutions/Plasti_DipYou can order this online direct from the company website, or at Amazon. And, if you're located in the U.S. your local hardware stores such as Loew's or Home Depot store should carry it. Any further questions about this material? Here's the FAQ... www.plastidip.com/faq.phpzozo-mag

Nah, that's not it. It was something specifically meant for treating rubber. I googled "rubber treatment stick" and I see now why I thought I'd find it specifically on amazon.de - it's called "Gummi Pflege Stift".
