Just when i think id cancel th preo someone post these irresistable images....sigh That's the ugly cycle of collector abuse. Someone did that to me, so in a vain effort to feel like I have some control, I exploit a relative weakness in someone else. When? When will we stop needlessly inflicting pain on each other's wallets? Not anytime soon, that's when. :P

I really dig the Phalanx. Probably the earliest non-transforming robot toy I can remember from my childhood. So, in anticipation of the Hi-metal, I went looking for some pics of it from the animation. But this is the only scene I keep finding: Was the tan Phalanx ever even animated? Is that 3-second shot with the blue Phalanxes the only time we ever see them on the screen? Help me out here, guys. I feel like my childhood was a lie. Say it ain't so.

Yes the tan is cannon and appeared multiple times in the animation. From Macross Chronicle: I haven't figured out which episodes those are from yet.

There are toy-makers and then there are toy-makers.
Bandai is the latter.
Sigh.

Defender arrived today. Again, a few days ahead of the two week minimum it used to take SAL to get to me, and way under the three weeks plus that had been the norm for the last few years. Whatever changed, I'm all for it.
Pros: -looks fantastic -great colors and tampos -headlights are well done, they really pop -wonderfully poseable; especially for a walking AA turret -very stable and solid once put in a pose
Cons: -not much metal compared to the Spartan, and the metal that is there is well hidden. Some gunmetal plates on the bottoms of the feet and the rest is buried in the ankle, hip, and shoulder joints. Whole thing feels featherweight.
-the metal pelvis joint that allows the legs to raise and lower at the hips is super stiff. Basically an unusable joint during normal play. On my figure, I literally have to pop the legs off and wrestle with the bars in order to change their angles. Though it's certainly better than if it was loose. I can set it in a good position and just keep it that way. Still, it's less than optimal.
-Ankles can't tilt as much as I'd like. Plenty enough for most poses, but not enough to really make use of all the crazy articulation the rest of the bot has.
-Needs some sprue-mark trimming and some touch-up paint to get it to where I'll want it. Not any worse than the Spartan or any other Hi-metal or Robot Damashii; I'm just complaining cause I'm getting kinda tired of putting in the effort. I'll get over it.
Overall, another great Destroid. I think I might come to like it even more than the Spartan.
Hey Bandai, give us release dates for the Tomahawk and Phalanx already.
