Was that comment for me? Even if not, there seems to be only one person who likes to insult folks for no reason, and that is you. Curb your enthusiasm or be banned...

i respect your opinion bro, but Mazinger Z enemies was much more impressive than Great Mazinger, in Mazinger Z the enemies had a robot like design not all but most, some of his enemies are popular too you have the most iconic Garada K7, Doublas M2 Spartan K5, Kingdan X10, Demos F3 and alot more that have a great design in Great Mazinger most of the eneimes had an animal like design and that weird face on their stomach and the action wasn't like Mazinger Z honestly it was kinda boring in some episodes Well, the enemy mecha design is easily explained by who's building the robots. In Mazinger Z, Dr. Hell's creations are based off the original mechanical giants that were used hundreds of years before by the inhabitants of that island. He just modernized and modified the designs to make them more effective and lethal against modern weapons (except Mazinger Z of course ). I didn't watch Great Mazinger yeat, but I know the premise. The enemy robots, in this case, are sent by the Great General of Darkness, they belong to the Mikene Empire and were manufactured by demonic beings, not by man. The mecha design reflects their otherworldly nature. I don't know man, I think I might find the show interesting, I shall give it a try (as soon as I'm finished with exams. Also, I'll have to finish watching Daltanious first). Nice point here MF The thing is I feel with Mazinger Z there was much more passion than Great Mazinger I love them both but with Mazinger Z the fighting the action the design of the robots and the episode stories was more catching than Great Mazinger , I guess Dr.Hell is a better designer than Great General of Darkness I only completed Great Mazinger because I wanted to know the end the last episodes are good you should watch it just to know the events of Mazinger Saga I'm still convinced that the only reason you'd be bored is because you're trying to marathon them like a moron. Seriously, did you watch them as a kid like that? No, you had to wait a whole week for the next episode! Or maybe just one day if it was in the afternoon - which is the more reasonable suggestion. What I'm saying is, don't just try watching the whole show in one sitting, of course it's going to be boring and repetitive. Just watch one episode a day! Feel like that's too slow? Watch more than one show at once! I've been doing that for three years now and I'm still going. Im not a moron man, and if you convinced about your theories that don’t make them facts FYI Great Mazinger wasn’t aired in my country so I watched it in 2011 and I watched it again in 2013 because i found a better release it was boring in both times, the 2nd time was very boring specially in the middle of the show I didn’t marathon it like you said I watched 1 episode per day 2 if I were free, I only marathon shows I like and even if you marathon some thing good you will never be bored I marathon Daimos and Combattler V I didn’t get bored at all because it was more catchy than Great Mazinger

I agree. Every time I watch Great Mazinger, except for a handful of episodes, I get bored out of my mind. It's no wonder it didn't do as good as Mazinger Z when initially released. }D Really?huh.I enjoy Mazinger, but I really like those villains with faces on their stomachs as S.Gokin said {Myceneans}they are far more ghoulish in nature and I love horror and how Japanese see it.This is probably why i find Great Mazinger more visually interesting. Ive seen all of mazinger but only a dozen or so of Great Mazinger, maybe it wouldnt be so exciting if i watched all the series you think TMZ? Or in other words would find Mazinger better as a whole?Im gonna buy GM and find out it I contacted a seller today on Ioffer 25$ for the set.For now Ill finish up the 14 episodes I am rewatching free online in english. BTW TMZ do you like Mazinger much more becaus eof characters or storyline or both?which more mainly?

I would say I like Mazinger Z more because of the story. Most of the Mazinger Z characters translated over to Great Mazinger, but the GM storyline was just too supernatural for me. I never liked the "transforming" humans to Mycene Battle-Beasts concept. It was way more unbelivable than Dr. Hell's Mechanical Beasts. But I did enjoy several episodes of GM nevertheless. }D

Unfortunately it's also the popular thing to do. I see far too many people crying about how boring some oldschool robot anime is when they're marathoning a f'ing monster of the week series. That's not how it's meant to be watched. It just makes them look stupid. Sooooo...where the heck did you get a subbed release anyway? I think the biggest problem between Great Mazinger manga vs. anime is that the anime keeps the enemy mechas non-verbal, which makes them more akin to the ones we already saw in Mazinger Z. The manga in the other hand appears to make them actual Myceneans, which means they actually talk. The bit where Kouji is shocked when one of them starts talking to him in Mazinger Z vs. Ankoku Daishogun is lifted out of the GM manga. I think GM would've been even better if it had kept the "monster of the week has an actual personality" angle.

Watch more than one show at once! I've been doing that for three years now and I'm still going. I agree with tetsuryu about marathoning thru an anime series. In most cases it can burn you out right away. The only time I've ever marathoned through an anime series was the Yuusha Raideen anime... That show is 50 episodes long, and I watched about 5 episodes per night back to back. I enjoyed it for its fast pace, so I wasn't bored with side-plots and character dramas. I love the robot Great Mazinger. But I wasn't so enthused with his anime show, and to be honest the ending of that series appeared lame to me, compared to the ending of the Mazinger-Z series. I dunno... in the Great Mazinger series, pilot Tetsuya Tsurugi seems like a wuss. In one episode, Great Mazinger was trapped inside a volcano... Tetsuya un-docked the Brain Condor and left Great Mazinger down there, thinking that his robot couldn't withstand the lava. That was friggin LAME of Tetsuya to leave Great Maz like that. Professor Kabuto finally ordered Tetsuya to dock back with Great Maz and get him out of the volcano, which he finally did. I think if Koji had been there during the first few episodes he would've smacked Tetsuya silly for being such a wuss. I'm glad Koji and Mazinger-Z returned in the later half of the series... ...this time Mazinger-Z saves Great Maz from near-destruction at the mercy of the Myceneans. So this anime show belongs back to Mazinger-Z, all hands Down. Tetsuya was just a puppet all along in becoming a robot pilot, as he had no true cause for his mission. Koji, on the other hand, had a true moral cause to seek his destiny as a robot pilot... ...his own grandfather and Shiro's babysitter were murdered by the enemy, so that was Koji's initial drive to seek revenge, with the help of Mazinger-Z... Koji was thrust into his life of being the crime fighter, as he realized he not only had to avenge his grandfather-- he was also responsible for defending the world. At first Koji seemed reluctant to accept it as his fate, but then as the series progressed he evolved into accepting it as his destiny, to a point at times he even lets it go to his head and wears it as a badge of honor. Rightfully So. And, Those were the biggest differences between Koji and Tetsuya. If you have the Mazinger-Z SOC, and the Great Mazinger SOC, both in your hands... ...which one of those SOCs draws your attention the most? I have both SOCs. And once in a great while when I play with my SOCs, I tend to spend more of my attention on my Mazinger-Z SOC first, and then later on I'd play with my Great Maz SOC. Do any of you find yourselves in that same vibe between those two SOCs as well? I think the only other reason the Great Mazinger robot character survived into the toy franchise was because of the success of the Mazinger-Z franchise... ...and I'll even bet kids back then were more impressed with a Great Mazinger robot toythan they were of the anime. Great Mazinger made it into the toy franchise by the skin of his teeth, and again into the SOC line. Over all, I like how all of the super robots compliment their anime shows in some form. At least they give you a physical toy representation of their anime shows, to chill out with. zozo-mag

I had always believed that the Grendizer anime series was a breath of fresh air. As if Go Nagai got done milking the Mazinger saga, and so he came up with Grendizer.
Grendizer's story took the Mazinger saga to a higher level; and I'm glad Koji was written into this series as a side-kick even though he does give some hintful references back to the Mazingers once in a while.
Go Nagai's early suber-robots were terrestrial (of the Earth)... ...and so Grendizer was a welcome change to the game. Now we're looking at a robot from another galaxy, in the form of a UFO, piloted by an extra-terrestrial humanoid refugee from another galaxy.
Nagai used his fascination with Greek mythology to introduce us to the Mazingers. He comes back again later expressing his fascination with the topic of UFOs as a way to introduce us to Grendizer. That anime reflected an era during the '70s in which society was so intrigued with the topic of UFOs. And so I think that is what drew so many fans to the Grendizer series.

You reminded me of the episode where Koji was held captive, to lure someone from the Photon Lab into a death trap. My god that episode was exciting, and sad. When Dr. Morimori died in Koji's arms, that was touching. That was followed by one of the sickest fights in the whole Mazinger Z show, where Koji fought recklessly, without thinking about his health or Mazinger's state, he just wanted revenge man I loved that episode. Mazinger pulled off some sick moves, worthy of an acrobat.

Then the 'funny' part, after Morimori died in his arms: Koji "cried"... as in, he just let out a short "Waaaaaa!" and quickly changed to a quiet straight mean face like he was ready to go after some mofos for what they did. That episode wins, all hands Down! zozo-mag

NOBODY CALLS TETSUYA A WUSS! NOBODY!
*ahem*
There's a big difference between Koji and Tetsuya, and that is that Tetsuya is a trained professional. Unlike Kouji, he didn't fall into a cockpit, and he didn't have a personal connection with Great Mazinger. That's why he throws a fit when Kouji comes back...his piloting ability is the only thing that gives him any sense of value, and he's terrified of being replaced - not only as the pilot but also as Kenzo's son - THAT is what motivates him.

LOL.... I'm sure you understood what I meant when I called Tetsuya a wuss. As for his professional training, he sure underwent rigorous training ever since he was a kid. ( Flashback scenes to his childhood when Kenzo was training him). Tetsuya (and Jun Ono) was an orphan who was adopted, and Kenzo was more than just his professor but also like a father figure to him. I saw Tetsuya's reaction when Koji returned and learned that his dad (Kenzo) was still "alive" ( I can't remember if Koji had also known that Kenzo existed as a cyborg. His little brother Shiro learned about it first, and man was he shocked!)... ...that look on Tetsuya's face said it all right there. And I'll bet it took a very long time for Tetsuya to trust Koji as a friend besides being his team mate. ( I didn't watch all of the series, only the episodes that were subtitled by Msubs before they dropped out of the fansub scene a few years ago- they subbed maybe 24 episodes, I think). zozo-mag
