i have a combatra gx-3 thats extremely droopy out the box. and a few other SRC's that flop around a bit also. I would like them to be tighter.
does anyone have any methods to perform minor fixes? I'm sure i can't be the only one with this problem... I'm really late to the game, as i just started robot collecting a few months ago, you guys probably have it all figured out by now lol

Ive heard clear nail polish over the joints.dont know how long it lasts..

yes but only the small non combiners like mazinger.Gx-45 I repainted one.the larger ones are designed so you cant take them apart without ruining them.

nice thread idea man thankfully i dont have any major loose joints so far the only figures that got loose with time is GX-50 Combattler V (only his left arm) SRC Mazinkaiser SKL last night i found it lying on its back because of the feet give up lol and now it cant stand up right like most of the first gen SRC, just dont display him with the sword on his back thats it but i will try to do baron trick it might work

You can try Future polish (Pledge floor care multisurface). The one with the blue label. Not the one with the yellow/lemon stuff since I'm not sure if that has the same formula.
I used it on some of the figures that's got loose limb-joints, but I've never used it on my SOCs since all my SOCs are still tight.
Just apply a tiny bit via toothpick or a q-tip on the screw/joint itself and move the loose joint regularly while applying so that it coats evenly. Then let it dry a bit. The tightness won't be instantaneous, so you might want to wait an hour or so for it to dry completely.
There should be some youtube-videos on how to apply it properly.

There are a few tricks I use very often that I posted here in random threads before. Here they are: 1. Super glue trick - brush some super glue on ball joints or tabs to thicken them. Let dry and hardened before touching anything else. The thicker ball or tab will generate more friction and makes the joint tighter. 2. Cling wrap (Glad) or thin plastic film - great for hinge joints found in robots and transformers that can be disassembled. Trapping a small piece of cling wrap where the hinge joint rotates the inner rod. The thicker the trapped cling wrap inside the joint, the tighter the joint is. 3. Dental floss - great for hinge or swivel joints you cannot take apart, especially joints in 12" dolls. Looping and knotting dental floss in joint gaps to create friction build up. 4. Super glue trick No.2 - for hinge joints that you can't take apart nor able to loop dental floss around, drop a drop or two of liquid super glue into the hinge gap. Make sure you move the joint every minute or two to keep the glue from bonding the joints for good, while let the super glue slowly seep into the hinge gap and slowly harden, building up more resistance/friction as the joints are moved. Be very careful to not let the joints getting stuck, or the joint will be ruined for good. This is pretty risky, so only use this as last resort. The glue drop can be messy and visible as well, so only good for joints that are somewhat concealed, or somewhere you don't mind having glue stain visible. Fast drying liquid super glue help shorten the process (gel won't work, need to be liquid), as it hardens faster, while you keep breaking the bond its trying to make by keep those joints moving every minute or two, until the glue no longer can stick, but created a hardened build up.

I just thought of this idea.. Tha maybe my voltes v gx-31.. The lander's ball joint can be tightened by appling clear nail polish! What a coincidence

Got a bad experience with super glue trick, I would highly recommend applying Future instead. 2-3 or even more application is sometimes needed but for the GX31 Voltes V crotch, I highly doubt Future can do the trick. When I look at mine the crotch joint is somewhat loose on the inside, Im not sure if the pin is compress or screw type? But I really dont want to ruin it so ill leave as it is for the time being, I will if someone will made a video fix out of it.

For those of you that have the "loose crotch" on your GX31V Voltes, did it become loose due to play? Or were they loose fresh out of the box? Im only asking since I currently have the same issue with mine, but I purchased mine used. Wasnt sure if it came that way new.

The Voltes V crotch is a design prone to get loose. I rarely play with mine, but its still somewhat loose. SOC Ideon shares the same crotch design, but gets worse much faster due to Ideon's weight waist up. Also, because its a metal-on-metal joint (with no disassembling screws), super glue trick won't help much as dried super glue gets scrape off from diecast after a couple rubs (unless its a type of joint that the glue will get trapped and not come off). It doesn't stick well on metal. Metal-on-metal joints are the toughest to fix. It is wise to leave it alone, unfortunately. I learned it the hard way with other figures, since the process of try fixing it can worsen the looseness, especially after the glue fails to adhere while the rubbing and testing loosen up the joint even more. One of the very few attempts that actually succeeded was dripping a couple drop of super glue (Super glue trick No.2 from my list above) on a Saint Seiya Myth figure ankle hinge joint, which is a metal-on-metal joint. But the general success rate on metal joints are low.

if someone with experience would guide me i would be willing to take one for the team on my combattler and deconstruct it to see whats the problem with the crotch. maybe we can rig a solution?

hello gang i have my SRC Mazinkaiser left ankle (just the left ankle) got extremely loose for some reason i didnt even pose it that much any idea how to tight it up thats will be appreciated
