Here goes: another shot of the front cover tray layout, no surprises here close-up look of the kurogane mazinger The hover pilder is extremely fragile, so do handle with care. Pretty disappointed that the hover pilder did not fit into mazinger's head nicely. Don't have this problem with previous mazingers though. That cool box art feels like I'm looking at a cover of Time Magazine, with Maz as the feature article! lol Wow, that Pilder needs help fitting inside the crown. Hopefully this is just one affected unit and not more than one unit from that line. Even so, it's unfortunate that your Pilder has trouble fitting inside the crown. Have you tried the Pilders from any of your other SRC Mazingers to see if they'll fit? If any of the other Pilders fit you could swap 'em with this one for display. zozo-mag

Thanks, Mecha! Can't wait to get mine. As for the Pilder, try fiddling with it. For my original one, it did not fit right away but after some careful fiddling, it fits well. Just do it with care. :-)

Will give it a go the next time i fiddle with my mazingers. Why bandai decides to use brittle plastic for the propellers on the hover plider is really beyond me. Update: just tried swapping with 2 mazingers, the jumbo mazinger and the z colour (the shiny finish one) mazinger. Point to note is, the hover pilders comes with 2 holes (front and back arrangements) on the base, to be fitted Into 2 pegs on the crown of the mazinger. The front hole of the z colour one is very shallow, so it does not fit the kurogane's crown. The jumbo mazinger on the other hand, fits the kurogane's head nicely, perfectly aligned. This suggest that the pegs on the kurogane's crown are aligned nicely and confirms the kurogane's hover pilder holes are defective, at least on mine.

Thanks for the update mecha-mecha So now folks who get this kurogane version will have to be careful how they handle the smaller parts, especially that Pilder. It's also a reminder that very small parts such as the propellers on the Pilder are very delicate due to their size, and so of course the plastic material will not be as dense to take handling as good as the larger plastic parts can. All I can say is Watch those pegs and holes. zozo-mag

Once I saw the colors of his forearms and lower-legs I felt in love! I never liked how the first SCR Mazinger Z has those dark limps. Now, seeing this "Kurogane," I am considering buying it + will buy then also the anime Grendizer/Spazer set (even while I do have the first SRC Grendizer and a spazer). I just think that the Kurogane Mazinger would look great next to the SRC anime Grendizer. But, I have a damn feeling that soon Bandai will release an anime ver. of SRC Mazinger Z. Yeah? Grendizer/Spazer anime ver. and Mazinger Z kurogane ver. ORDERED! IRRESISTIBLE!

being used to the high standards of bandai, i somewhat find this unacceptable. never had this problem on previous iterations of src mazingers. hope that this problem is isolated and the rest of you will not have to face with it.

chachipower it looks really nice in that rough metal touchup... ...I'm wondering if this figure was painted that way as a tribute to the reference " Castle Of Iron" as we've heard in episode 1 of the Mazinkaiser OVA. zozo-mag Magengar, this is how Tamshii described the "kurogane" finish on its website: "-KUROGANE FINISH-" This unique surface finish evokes steel in your hands. The glossy colors and contrasting textures come together to form the "-KUROGANE (STEEL) FINISH-", the ultimate finish for Chogokin figures. *"-KUROGANE FINISH-" is the name of a new surface finish that replicates the look and texture of steel. It does not mean that actual steel is used in the product." Could it be a nod to the Kurogane House in the Mazinger Edition Z: The Impact? Just a thought.

"Steel"... so That's what the word kurogane means. I had always thought the word "koutetsu" meant steel. In any case, I'm learning something new here. zozo-mag

so are they going to do a Kurogane Edition for every SRC now that's going to be the steal of the year I wouldn't guess! Mazinger Z is known as the "Iron Castle" and that's why we are getting this edition. I am very happy because now I will have The Trio in different themes, thus, different imaginary of each one's alloy.

Guys, careful what you wish for! :-) An SRC sized version of the DX Maz, with removable armor to expose its mechanical guts, and a small Hangar base to go with it. Without all the fancy electronic effects and lights. Ah, but of course fans can make their own custom hangar base for SRCs of this size. zozo-mag

so that's: sword, wings, extra normal hands, pileder.

This SRC kurogane and the 40th anniversary SOC Mazinger are BEAUTY! Kurogane is the perfect SRC Mazinger Z to stand next to the anime ver. of Grendizer. But... I am not sure if it comes with the Kyoukagata Rocket Punch? We'll see...
