Wow. I had to compute that twice. That must be some lacquer. Wonder if it has any articulation?

Jaylive, reminds me of the fugu (blowfish) dish served in Japanese restaurants which if prepared wrong can be poisonous. No thanks. :-)

I wonder if people can get a discount if they order the non-dry version? But seriously that's just too overpriced for such a simple (and poisonous!!) paintjob! I can even see paint bubbles on the surface! Plus this figure is made out of vynil!

I love the look of this. Traditional Japanese laquerware is used for decorative boxes and eating ware so its completely safe when dry. Man that price though! @_@;;

but seriously.. it maybe limited to 5 or 10 pieces. with that steep price... it should be. if i have that cash to burn for just one figure.. i would probably buy soc's own "Iron Castle: Mazinger Z" version instead...

For that price you'd expect a perfect paint job! Just look at how bady the pilder is painted and even the fin is bent!

Creating laquerware is really time consuming and not as simple as painting. Think of it as a traditional Japanese rendition of Mazinger as a staue. This video on the process might help to put things into context. I wonder how Medicom made these? Its a shame the Pilder fin is bent in the photos.

True but the base material used on these wares are skillfully handmade along with the extremely smooth surface, this vynil figure has none of those qualities. I think the price would have been more justified if it was made out of wood and not cheap vynil.
