Saw the figure exposed at the Lucca Comics & Games convention, here the best shot I could get with my crappy cellphone camera: You know what? I think I like it. I don't mind the fact that it hasn't magnets. SRC was never about gimmicks, it was about articulation + small(er) size + affordability. SoC Mazinger Z has spring-loaded rocket punches, the SRC doesn't. SoC Godsigma can separate into its individual robots, SRC doesn't. If this Jeeg sacrifices magnets in favor of very good ratchets, then I'm all for it. I'm surprisingly happy that they look to be skipping the magnets. as much as it was the gimmick that the show was looking to sell, it really is the most problematic element of pretty much any Jeeg figures. I mean just once it will be nice to get a Jeeg that actually stands well and can hold a pose.

If this Jeeg lacking magnets actually is gonna happen.... its just fine with me. well..think about it.. it will be another approach for a Jeeg toy. Good for those who already owned multiple magnetic Jeegs. im looking forward to it.. if its indeed different from previous releases.

I think part of SRC's almost cross the boards "slight misproportion" is to make a more believable three dimensional super articulated slightly modernized figure of the 2 dimensional characters. The want the SRC's to look and feel more real to you. The SOC line is where they try and go for super on screen accuracy and perfect transformations.
And I'm fully ok with the SRC approach. But I tend to collect what I feel are the best interpretation of the character. Not simply the one that most perfectly mimics onscreen. Heck the SRC Sentai robots look and move a thousand times better than their on screen counterparts, and I adore them for it. Bandai captured the robots how they always looked in my head. Not as the limited dudes in cardboard suits.
Jeeg's proportions also tend to be all over the place. Both from on screen art, and prior toys. So I'm looking forward to this latest take on him. (But I do still pine for my black and red repaint with the poor mans Darth Vader meets Mazinger head sculpt. We need a Baron Karza. Yeah yeah I know, no one even knows who actually has the rights anymore. Such a shame.)

i think this Jeeg in proportion wise is the best looking, i mean in comparison to the old anime show and official artwork, his proportion change drastically from skinny to super bulky and fat. the best one to reference is the sketch book but i assume they where trying to go with this one in proportions but modernising it a bit. either way i find the SRC Jeeg very well proportionate

SRC'S in general do look a little odd in static poses but that's because they are sculpted to be in dynamic poses that's why a lot have elongated torsos or beefed up limbs so when in a dynamic pose they still convey power.

Ummmm. Jeeg is bigger than Big shooter ? Ah, don't even bother trying to figure out Jeeg's height. Trust me, it'll get you nowhere. I've just recently finished watching the whole classic Jeeg anime. In some scenes, Jeeg looks 10 meters tall or so, 30 feet (sometimes even shorter than that). And 2 scenes later it towers over a 10-storey building. You know how Hiroshi transforms into Jeeg's head, right? Well, that means that if you curl up into fetal position, the volume you occupy should roughly be the size of Jeeg's head. A meter or so, maybe a bit more. Heh, guess what, there's a scene in which Jeeg's foot is as large as a group of 6 cars parked side by side. Sure, Jeeg might be bigger than the Big Shooter. But, for all I know, it could fit inside the cockpit just as well, hehe

If you just finish the series. In the last episode, Jeeg stand on Big shooter like Gundam stand on G-Fighter.

I've yet to watch Gundam, but yeah Jeeg landed and kneeled on the Big Shooter after it killed the Emperor and his two-headed robot dragon. Nice pose. You think the team that made Gundam took inspiration from this last episode of Jeeg?

Should we please merge this thread to the other SRC Jeeg thread?

Sounds good to me, since flipping between threads feels a bit bothersome
