Hello everyone! This is my first thread, so do let me know if I'm violating any rules and I'll modify it accordingly.
I've been offered some Super Robot/Gokin trades for my ThreeA Portal 2 set, and I really would like a quality Gurren Lagann figure. He has both the Sentinel Riobot version and the Konami Great Impact. Given the choice between the two, which would you pick and why?

Wow, theyre both awesome figures from what i hear.... Although i dont own neither one, id get Konami.
Only because theres almost zero chance it will ever be re released. Konami is not a prolofic diecast figure maker. theres more chance Sentinel MIGHT release GL as re release improved Riobot or even better, all new vastly superior diecast GL in the future as Sentinel is a ton more prolific then Konami....

Ah, I'd never considered that. One point definitely in favour of Konami, then!

i have no idea which is best, but the aftermarket value for the konami seems to be double of the sentinel.
so maybe get the konami, sell it, buy the sentinel, and have some nooooice pocket money left over:)

i have no idea which is best, but the aftermarket value for the konami seems to be double of the sentinel. so maybe get the konami, sell it, buy the sentinel, and have some nooooice pocket money left over:) The after market is almost non existent for the GIM Gurren Lagann. The last one that was sold was roughly around $360 or so. It's still more than what it original cost but no where near what it was a couple years ago. Interest on the figure died down a lot with the Sentinel Riobot and the SRC version. The problem with these older chogokin after market values, there just seems to be a group of seller that keeps trying to over value these pieces. To the point where buyers are no longer interested. Anyone that tries to sell it want to get those prices but it doesn't sell. If it sell at a lower price, it's usually purchased by online retailer so they themselves can mark it up. jaylive, you do searches regularly for deals on Amazon and EBay. So you know the game, we veterans, when it comes to back tracking a old chogokin, not talking about antique stuff, it only interest when the price is super low and impossible to pass on. That said, I would definitely trade for the GIM Gurren Lagann. It's a bigger figure with Die-cast. The original price for he GIM is also $150-180. The Riobot version was only 80-100. So if I were to do the trade, the answer is easy, get the one that maximizes my trade value.

thanks for all the great info @supergetterv
i know next to nothing about any of those figures. I just did a quick search and made that comment just on resale value alone. im glad you are here to provide historical value on them to help the OP make a better decision than what i could do.

Excellent! Hopefully this trade goes through; I didn't know the GL figure was worth that much. The figures I'm trading were very pricey at retail ($200 each), but I got a good deal on them so the trade is a no-brainer. If all goes well, I'll have the Great Impact GL and a Hasbro Masterpiece Soundwave by next week.

I own the Konami Great Impact Gurren Lagann and it's a wonderful piece of art.
It's on par with robot from Max Factory, so lots of die-cast.

Yes get the Konami one, It was done by the same manufacturer as those of Max Factory for the Godannar bot a while ago. They're literally cut from the same cloth kinda deal. I have both of them, you won't regret getting this guy.

I just did a bit of research on the 3A portal 2 figures. Both are on clearance at BBTS for about $145, but only one or them is in stock. Original Retail roughly $220 or so. I don't know how much you paid for them, somewhere between 300-400$. The other side is willing to trade you a Hasbro MP Soundwave and a Great Impact Model Gurren Lagann? Soundwave was around 100-120 and Gurren was around 150-180 at retail price. The other side paid around $300 at retail if they got it at retail. Take the deal cause you the winner in this deal. Just make sure it's the Great Impact Model Gurren and not the standard Konami Impact Model Gurren Lagann.

I've been hunting for a reasonably priced Konami Great Impact Model GL for ages now. No luck so far.

See, I don't have an attachment to Portal 2 so for me this is an easy deal. But let me ask you guy this though. If you were offer a trade GIM Gurren Lagann only, no MP Soundwave, for two of you recent $200 figures, would you do it? Say you are new to collecting SOC, and you have GX-66 Tryder and say the GX-34R Gunbuster. Would you trade those two for a GIM Gurren if the offer was there?

No owning both, I don't know. $200 robot I have that I would use for a trade like this would be my Chrome Guttur. It's and Unofficial Masterpiece Style Dinobot Snarl. And I would throw in the Miracle Production Vehicle Voltron. I've spent $200 on each. Both are okay figures, just not what I was expecting at the $200 price tag so I would have no problem letting those go in a trade like this one.

Sorry for the confusion lol.
