bader, thanks very much for posting these comparison pics. I'm not always into Voltron, but when I am, I choose SOC.

nothing beat a classic in my book, back in the days they used a secret component called passion in almost every thing, and it easily over come the fact that they didn't have half of the technology they have today i really hope the final product is close to the promo photos our it will be the disappointment of the year

Well diecast content isn't cheap. And then you have Toynami having the audacity to sell us their EX Voltron for $400 and no diecast period. So yeah, $300 for an SoC is not too out there. Especially for combining robots. Oh I get that. That's why its rarely used anymore. My issue is that Toynami kept releasing the same mold with little to no changes. And still had the shoulder problems. Though I think WEP is just as much to blame here. Toynami can't re-release it without their consent. They will burn out their fans eventually. Yeah well before news of the SoC,Toynami had their EX Voltron ready to go so whether or not that version fixes the issues with Toynami is mostly irrelevant when Bandai Tamashii has a longer and better track record and does have all the bells and whistles of the vintage toy with some sensibilities in modern engineering and as close to anime accuracy than what was given beforehand.

Kinda surprised Bandai hasn't done the vintage comparison thing for their marketing. If I wasn't already sold, it would have tipped me over in no time.

The EX is a whole new mold altogether. Its bigger than the MP one [MP is 12 inches while EX is 16 I believe] so whether it replaces the MP one remains to be seen. I guess we'll find out in a few years when the 35th Anniversary rolls around.

Hey guys, I was in Akihabara today and they had Voltron out on display. Unfortunately on first glance he looks tubbier in person than he does in the pics. If they would just make his entire lower abdomen smaller by 10 percent I think he'd be perfect. Black Lion's head is also smaller than I was expecting. Still happy that I have it on preorder, but the proportions seemed off to me when I was studying it: share.pho.to/AG3NX/2u/originalshare.pho.to/AG3NX/sy/originalshare.pho.to/AG3NX/yf/originalI've uploaded all of the pics I took here: pho.to/AG3NX

The Sentinel Dancouga is an engineering upgrade in about almost ever way from the Godaikin and even the Soul of Chogokin but I would have loved for it to have a balance to the huge hulk of a mechanical monster seen in the anime as well as some streamlining with Masami Obari's usual design quirks. So a thick Voltron is a plus in my books. Nonetheless, I do love these new updates. Thank for not letting this specific little board feel dead by sending us these much needed pics.

Yes, big Thank you from me as well Monari. Thank you for the trouble.
If its too late to fix it, I just HOPE that "entire Voltrons head/ black lions head , from neck up" can moved forward towards the front of the chest. I think, That will elivate many proportional visual issues.
If there still is time for a last minute adjustment, the black lion head should be around 20 percent bigger. That will also help so much to make Voltron and black lion proportionally ....closer to source accuracy?.

Ah....thats the designer i really REALLY don't like. Masami Obari...... I like some of his work. On mecha. When it comes to humans, he seems to have gone the way of Rob Liefeld. In fact the two may have a lot in common even in just art-wise.
