i understand you better now, thank you yea bro i know but in the real world it wont be an easy thing to pull Voltron if the lions where exactly the same size just like the anime, im glad they are getting closer to it, but for me im personally welling to sacrifice some of the lions proportions in order to have a better Voltron

The timing for this EX version is just off. Had they released this a while back instead of the 25th or 30th anniversary reissues and definitely before KOB came out, then this figure (aside from high price) might have been welcomed more. The fact that it's coming out at the same time with very strong competitor products SOC, KOB etc., I don't think this is going to sell well at all.
Personally, I cancelled my preorder for it after I got a lemon 30th Jumbo Voltron. The red lion arm was so loose and can't hold a pose, and Toynami customer service sent me two small rubber bands to "tighten" the arms. As S_Gokin said previously, their products are hit or miss.

This thread still gaining traffic?
I mean we can only laugh at Toynami for so long till it gets old.

Well, to be honest, every time there's news on this not-yet-released product, we'll get many posts ridiculing it. Those posts are just beating a dead horse as they are complaining about the same thing, again and again. Just because it comes from Toynami. I own the Toynami Voltron and also two of their Masterpiece Macross VFs, and I understand the frustration. But yeah, if you're complaining why this thread is still active, it's not because of the product, it's those often repeated opinion, the same one nonetheless, every time there's actual news on the EX.

I am not particularly salty or anything. I never bought Toynami but have heard of some issues of their so-called Masterpiece stuff. I just find it amusing is all.

I was really disappointed with their VF-1 and Alpha/Beta.. the engineering is fine for its day, but the plastic quality is very bad. They did good with the all plastic MP Voltron (again, for its time), but pricing remains an issue. I don't see the EX as a competitor to the SoC at all. If it was really meant as a competitor, it will definitely lose to the SoC, no doubt about that. For Toynami to release it at about the same time as the SoC would mean either Toynami is arrogantly stupid or there is a demand for alternate versions. In Toynami's case, i think it's probably both. For us collector it's a win-win situation; those who do not like it would simply not buy it, those who do will buy it. ..and will help to review it objectively to help other collectors

Ultimately it was the pricing that killed this mold. Why pay so much for an all plastic figure when you can get the possibly most screen and anime/Gohkin accurate toy with diecast for a fraction of the price?

If QC is good and it goes down to like $200 I'd pick this up. It's a cool looking 18 inch tall combining Voltron what's not to like? Toynami has not been designing or producing toys for years now, most of their higher end toys now are outsourced to OriToy and from I understand they make quality products.

Looking good. Seems like all three Voltrons may be released in this month (SoC, KoB and the Ex). There's plenty of choice for everyone. Some may get all three, two or just one. I personally don't see a competition at all; each collector has his/her taste. Good times for Voltron collectors. I will get the SoC and the Ex; the KoB looks closer to the Soc/anime Voltron and for that reason I'm skipping him. The EX would be my alternate look Voltron.

If anyone can translate this mini review to English, that'd be nice.. www.toysdaily.com/discuz/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=253450&extra=page%3D1&page=1all i get from Google Translate are: - high mobility (articulation?) - fit not light (tight joints? - can do the Iron Man pose but the photographer had limited time to do it - no weapons for the individual lions (bummer!) - metallic paint - neck extension for the Black Lion

Update from Toynami's Facebook: Looks like the Stealth one is already one its way to purchasers, and the normal ones are heading to stores. One of the pics shows a very nice elbow joint (more than 90 degrees for sure)

Just watched a review for this. Not impressed at this price point. Looks like some nasty gaps and loose joints
