Well, at least for those who feared the SOC line was dead, you got two new SOC announcements almost back to back. That would really suck if the SoC line died because of how poorly mishandled the last two Gaogaigar/Brave releases were. Soul of Chogokin Gaogaigar was solid but his add-ons are expensive for what they are and made SoC GGG into a statue. A good looking one mind you but a statue nonetheless. I think this is the year that one good robot pays for a ton of bad ones. GX-71 is going to make for a very good Christmas for the Bandai SOC team. Probably their best ever, given the history of the Popy. They could release SOC Hello Kitty DX and it still won't damage the line if released near Voltron.

Getting a bit ahead of myself but what other lesser known classic anime mecha will Bandai do for their Soul of Chogokin after Voltron? I hear suggestions being Dairugger as well as possibly Bismark being a thing. I do wonder if there are any obscure anime mecha that have yet to be touched for a long long time.

Hmm? Even though my GGG has some random flawed ratchets, its really good though. Goldy is also quite nice on its own, stable, clicky, and has some heft. The combined form is more of a statue thanks to nothing but gravity really, so not sure if "poorly mishandled" is something to blame Bandai for. On the other hand, GX-70 is a Mazinger Z is really disappointing. Nothing wrong with a Mazinger per se, but we had just recently got a few repaints less than a year ago. How many do we really need? Yeah. Not much one can do against physics. I do see a few Amazon reviews of Goldymarg being blasted for not doing much on his own and how toy-like he is compared to other Soul of Chogokin entries. Then there is the whole ridiculous size of the Marg Hand. I don't know if Bandai could have toned it down a bit in certain areas such as the legs or torso to help with the weight at least a little bit. The stand being static also makes it stuck to two poses. The Marg Hand connection and the basic Goldion Hammer pose. The Premium Exclusive Star Gaogaigar set did include a stand to make my fully armed Gaogaigar look amazing on the shelf with a more free flowing pose not stuck in the 90 angles of having the Marg hand more parallel or perpendicular to the overall frame of Gaogaigar. I think Bandai already tried quite hard to legitimize Goldy as a SOC. He actually has a lot more panel lines than most (if not all) previous SOCs. The small lenses it has on his head and chest looks really cool and well painted. His robot proportion is very nice, and his functions as a robot, tank and a hand all work pretty well as intended. His size is pretty anime accurate too, so blame the show for that. Hard to make a bright orange hammer cool that is based on a squeaky rubber hammer toy you would usually give to a 3 year-old However, all that considered, I wouldn't say he is an excellent release. Just a decently good one. Without GGG, it is pretty pointless to own him honestly. And people had a point calling him a glorified accessory. My only issue is its price. Its MSRP price is way over. Glad I did get him in a decent discount. Anyway, back to GX-70.

Reworking Boss Borot, Grendizer and Great Mazingers will guarantee income from many of us. Doing Kikaiju could also be tremendous income.... Last but not least, doing "western" robots like Pacific Rim and Iron Giant can also bring untold fortune for Bandai...
If Bandai can gamble on utterly perplexing and ultimately money loseing characters like.....you know the ones im talking about, Bandai CERTAINLY can do SOC Iron Man or SOC Aliens Drop Ship.

Not soc, but under their chogokin line. Okay. I was worried there for a bit when Green Getter Guy was responding to me about the worst SoC releases.

Damn, i had to be called out like that huh? Lol, sorry about that. I told you my word is NOT bond!
I was very passionate about that release. At that time man, Bandai does hate me.

I can see why one would be a bit upset if a precious SoC slot was used for something so out of left field and unfitting for that line.

The first starting place is look at what Popy/Bandai classic DX's have not yet been done. Actually I think if Voltron does well, especially if we see a major surge here in the west we may see Bandai target that market a bit more directly. Full SOC Sentai subjects would be a good follow up. Such as a SOC Daizyujin or Gokai-O. We are long overdue for a nice Bandai offering of Getter 1,2 and 3. Or an updated Dragon, Liger and Poseidon. We've never seen a SOC Mazinkaiser. As is suggested Dairugger XV and the new Voltron seem easy choices as well. With the SOC line largely being more transforming or combining Super Robots these days you still have a few undone. Goggle V, etc. a SOC Laserion would be a trip.

Yes I would love for them to do super sentai SOCs particularly Bio Robo and Great Five And with a new Power Rangers movie coming, it might be a good idea for them to come out with a Megazord SOC to cash in on the upcoming hype.

possible but very remotely. guys if u still dont know Bandai's Legacy line... look it up.. its for super sentai mechs.. also with diecast parts. i dont think Bandai will directly compete with thier own brand with same features that they would offer with SOCs. It started with MMPR and its a continuing line...and perhaps they would consider to backtrack those mechs before daizyujin.

Hell, maybe even a Jet Garuda.

Guess I'm too late for the guessing game, huh?
Bummer. My guess was gonna be Gurren Lagann.
Well, on one hand, it does bite for people who have a thousand other Mazingers. On the other hand, this is kinda good news for people who don't have a Mazinger at all.
Still, you guys have my sympathy.

...maybe it's a manga-accurate Mazinger, but with Shin Mazinger's articulation.
Except, wasn't Shin Mazinger more or less based on the manga version already? I don't know! The only word I can think of here is "pointless" - I mean, we could've had a SoC Mazinkaiser instead or something!

Those who already have a thousand Mazingers might just be the firsts to jump on the first preorders. A smaller scale DX Chogokin, is that what it is, would be really nice. I actually wouldn't buy one since I already own the big one, but I'd be really tempted by the next ones if they chose to continue that "subline" with other robots like Grendizer or the Getters. Not sure where I'd draw the line, though. I wouldn't want to buy my whole SOC collection a second time.
